Anybody else in the Illinois or Indiana area having issues with Comcast internet tonight? It's not a complete outage, just really unusable internet connection speeds. Pulling only .16mbps download right now, which means I can't watch any sort of streaming video on Netflix. Anybody else having issues?

You try resetting your modem? Just unplug (power) from the modem for 1 minute and plug power back in.
If that don't work call comcast and have them bump the line.
If it still not work tell you want credit for the day.

Resetting the modem didn't help. I had already tried that. No, there was a major outage involving internet for a good portion of IL and IN. Comcast wouldn't admit there was an outage, but DownDetector.com showed almost 500 people reported issues with Comcast internet this evening. The net wasn't completely out, at first. I started a chat session with Comcast support, and I was number 667 in the wait queue. After almost 90 minutes waiting I finally got someone, and instead of apologizing for the outage he proceeded to troubleshoot my issue like it was an isolated problem. I don't know what the tech did, but while chatting with him my internet went completely down. It was down for almost two hours and just came back up. I was just curious if anyone else around here had any issues tonight.

that sucks.. years ago i had problems with comcast. my internet would come and go. they always wanted to blame my equipment. then finally a tech came out and changed the connector on the outside of the house just for the hell of it. guess what. no more issues after that connector was replaced. imagine that.

ditched comcast for fios probably around 6 years ago now and couldn't be happier..

good luch. hopefully you get it straightened out..

Yeah, unfortunately Comcast has a monopoly over cable and internet services in my area. We switched to DirecTV for television a year ago, but our internet is still with Comcast. Don't really have much choice. AT&T Uverse still relies on DSL and that can't compete with cable internet.

I had the same issues last night. Good to know it wasn't my computer, we just switched back to Comcast last month.

The MOST lies I have ever been told, or have ever heard told were from Internet Service Providers. (used to work for them)
The auto repair industry was second.

They all suck. I got the same story from Time Warner here one time. It turned out the entire local network was down in our small town area, and according to the TW "help" line they "pinged" my modem and it was "working fine."

The last neat trick TW pulled was to convert some of their base analog channels to digital, and want you to get a "free" that's "free" that's --------again---------- "free" converter.

But I need two, and you only get one, and AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR it ain't "free" anymore. So I told them literally and physically where they could stick their cable TV.

Only reason I have their cable internet is that all other options are just as bad or more expensive.

I have comcast for internet only because I have no other choice, Nlothing else available on my street, Same with TV but I dropped then anyway and just street netflix and hulu for $16 a month. Now Im under $100 a month for internet/tv instead of over $200

..........n I just got a Roku box. So far I'm exploring the free stuff.............
