Looking to start my one and only project, I like the front ends on 68-72 dart/scamp and demon/dusters. It appears the 68-69 and 70-72 front ends compatable?

Is there a model that will be the most compatable to exchange body parts with other years? Panels, doors, windows etc...

Would there be an advantage to picking up a parts car that is 73 + for disc brakes etc...?

Trying to do the research before the plung. Any help would be appreciated.

A Scamp is a Dart from the doors back, and a Duster from the doors forward. '67-'76 Duster, Valiant, Scamp fenders are the same with the exception of marker lights. '69-'72 D,V,S hoods are interchangeable as are bumpers. I'm thinking '68-'69 Dart fenders are different from '70-'72 because of the front extension. What exactly is it that you're working on?

Thanks for the reply. Have not purchased one yet, coming close. I would like to start one that has parts available even in Montana.

This one has drum brakes and needs a grill to start. My goal would be to strip a car and do the body work then drop in a different motor like a 5.7L for a daily driver.

Looks like a good project. I've got a '72 Scamp, which is the same as the Valiant except for the emblems. As far as parts for that Valiant, the rear quarter panels are Dart pieces, as are the floor pans, roof, rockers, rear bumper, and trunk lid. The whole front end is the exact same as a '72 Duster. '70-'72 Duster parts will work, but the marker lights will be different.

Disc brakes would be fairly easy to find, the grille would be a little more difficult to find in good shape. Unless you wanted to go with a sharktooth grille which is being reproduced for something like $600. The 5.7 hemi swap is not a cheap one, but there are plenty of people who have done it, including several people on this forum. Therefore, there is plenty of information all over the web about what it takes to get one in.

On my 73 Dart I am running a 70-71 Dart front clip and doors from a 74 Duster with the windows swapped out.

I prefer the looks of the 70-71 front end and the doors on my dart were hacked up so I replaced them with doors from a parts car. Everything lines up perfect.
