Console question !

[RAT ROD AL]

I have a console that has either been Hacked on or is for a car with AC. Cut looks to nice to be hacked ! Any help ID ing this would be appreciated!

My vote is that it's hacked. AC consoles have a blunt front end on the bottom plastic piece, the top plate is the same on AC vs no AC........My experience anyhow.

Yeah, looks like it was modded to clear a "knee knocker" A/C unit.

This one is from my factory A/C 70 duster.

yours, holy grail, not so much. More like cut POS. Shame They did that..
that said you should keep it. You could probably fashion up some sort of ‘end cap’ that looks descent and use it if you wanted?

Someone will buy it at a local swap meet. May take a few trips. Doubt someone will pay shipping, but ads are free.

I had a POS part like that and I brough it. one. Guy saw it and was so excited, it was just what he needed for his hotrod. Lucky day for me.

Looks hacked to me too.

That doesn't mean it doesn't have value.

Someone might need a part of it to fix the plastic, like skinning a quarter!

They did make a shorter with a stubby front but not that short….I bet a hot rodder would love that for a rat rod so I wouldn’t scrap it just yet

Here is the one with the “stubby” front, next to a regular one, the top plate was the same….both are factory consoles

I think the stubby front one was used on 73+ cars with the ducts that bolt to the bottom of the dash frame. I have both styles here. The one the OP posted is certainly hacked.

I have another one from a 67 AC car if you need it! It came out of the car that I bought the Notchback quarter glass windows from you a couple of years ago!!!
