I can’t find the post from many years ago about this. Somebody did a swap and I’ve searched for 30 minutes now. I have a column auto. I bought one of Tony’s Parts column deals he sells now on show special. What all is needed to swap out the upper column cover/ key tumbler etc ? What am I looking at here? I’ve never been into a column or tumbler before. Thanks guys.

Well. That’s a good idea. But I was remembering an article about how to remove the ignition switch. I believe once you take all that out.... you drive a roll pin out and the tumbler comes out. I need to find my service manual in the shop.

I know this doesn't answer your question but there are a couple of excellent 'how to' articles here on smoothing your existing column and avoiding all that. I just did mine and it was surprisingly easy. A bit picky but pretty simple with great results.

There a electrical ignition switch and a lock cylinder. No pin to drive out of either. There is a small spring loaded button of a pin built into the cylinder. If my memory serves you have to have the key in the cylinder to release the button so it will push. On some you had to turn the key out of the lock position, maybe all the way to on position and that might apply to Ford only and my memory sux. LOL In any case you wouldn't drive that button. If you didn't have a key you would have to drill away that button.
