Been thinking of adding a cruise control to my 1967 Dart Convertible. Has anyone done this recently? Years ago I installed a Sears unit in a 1980 car with pickup on the drive shaft and dash buttons.

Looking for recommendations as there are plenty of NOS Sears units on Ebay. Part numbers would be nice. Thanks

Get a 3 foot long dowel, get to speed and press dowel to gas pedal and tuck other end under your leg.

Worked well in a moving van for 1000 miles.

On a serious note if you have experience with Sears unit and it is cheap and easy, go for it

I probably over did it but I used a Rostra (not sure on spelling) system. Got all parts from several different places. Mounted control box on passenger floor near heater box. Found a Lokar stainless cable that fit control box and ran it through firewall so it looks like throttle cable. Cut off turn signal lever and adapted GM style lever with cruise switches on end. Uesd a speed sensor that goes in series with speedometer cable. Had to get custom made speedometer cable as needed different ends to fit the sensor and then connect to mopar. Only other item was to connect a disconnect to brakes. Everything but cable to carb is hidden under dash and only person to ever notice was a really good judge at a show. Took a bit to get it tuned in to set and hold speed without a lot of up and down throttle. Once set up it has worked good for several years and I am happy with how it works. I also have done several of the kind with magnets on drive shaft but that was a lot of years ago.

I have installed a number of cruise controls over the years. I preferred the Delco units from the '70/'80's. I too used the Rosta 250-1223 Universal Cruise Control on my '65 Cuda. I already had the 250-4165 Magnetic VSS Speed Pulse Generator Kit that goes on the drive shaft, from a previous Audiovox kit left over from an earlier unit. I used the 250-3032 switch that goes on your turn signal lever. The kit is straight forward and Rosta has good help if there are problems. The kits are available at Amazon.

A Mopar factory cruise control setup from almost any car or truck (1970's through the late 80's) will basically bolt on to any other Mopar from the same time period.

They made a lot of CC equipped cars in the 80's.

You may need to fabricate a control switch (but it's just an on/off switch and a momentary "set" switch) Although I believe the 71-74 turn indicator stalk/switch will work on most 60's cars.

I plan on using a factory setup in my '67 Barracuda convertible. I've got a couple of units, but will need cables and a switch. That's still down the road a bit, though.
