D150 with a RV 440, just to see what it will run

We here at 318willrun are looking to install a RV440 into a D150 long bed just to see what time it will turn at the track. Here are the basics:

• 1980 D150 long bed. Weighs about 3600 lbs by itself with the small block. Will have cheap headers, cheap off the shelf hughes converter (currently behind the 360), and a gear that fits the low revving 440. Right now, the truck has 4.30's, but I doubt the gear will be that steep for the 440.
• '77 RV 440 with a torker intake on it. We dealt with one rusty cylinder (drill honed and put new rings on that one cylinder), heads are fresh, Carb will be a Brawler 750 DP because that's what's on the current 360. I won't be doing any "upgrades" to the 440. I want to see what it does as it sits.

Transmission is getting "refreshed" at this time. Nothing for upgrades for performance.
Opening day at our track is April 25th.

• Means the plan for the project is in place, I hope to only post updates on progress or answer questions.

What does the truck weight now?
What elevation is the track?

• FX mufflers bolted to the collectors
• 360 probably flashed to 2600 or so.... maybe 2800?
• About 3600 lbs with the small block by itself.
• 607 ft for the track

I’m probably cutting in here where I shouldn’t be but remember that the 360 is externally balanced. That could create problems you don’t want. The only reason I said anything is because you said you were gonna use the same transmission.

Same torque converter, yes. Converter is neutral balanced, and I have the balanced flex plate so I can use the neutral balanced converter.

Do you know what gear and axle came in that truck?

Is it a factory 360 truck?

My 1980 D100/150 (not sure which) came with a 225 and 833 OD.
It now has a 1969 "Chrysler" 350 HP 440 but kept it's 833 OD and 8 1/4 axle.
I have no idea what gear it has or how to check.

It's super fun to drive as is, though.

Truck came with a 318 and an 8.25 with 2.76. You can pop the back differential cover off and read the ratio on the ring gear, good time to change the fluid anyways

Lots... the truck at the starting line might be a tad heavier than calculated because of it
I wonder what this thing will like to be shifted at..... 4400 rpm's ???

yes. Also, when the heads were off I deburred them and had them cut the thickness of the fel pro head gaskets I installed. So the compression should be as factory (which would be terrible... lol).
