I bought these headers several years ago from another member, while accumulating everything for my "on-going build," (10 years in) I've had the headers on the engine several times while it was on an engine stand with no bell housing. I have since finished building my test run stand and the engine is ready to start up for the first time, when this evening I find out the headers "ain't gonna work." There is interference with the bell housing and clutch linkage. I bought the headers as presented to fit the /6 and my 1965 Barracuda. My Barracuda was a factory 225 and a 904 automatic. I elected during the ongoing build to go with a 833. Is this where things went South? Are these headers for an automatic application? What headers will correct my issue?

I have to say yes, automatic headers only, looks like a 904 will let them pass.. let me see, maybe @Charrlie_S or @krazykuda or @RustyRatRod can shed some light on what can be done, a good exhaust man/lady could cut and move what needs to be done I am sure

There were many Clifford long tubes made, for all kinds of applications. I had a set I was going to put in my truck but they hit the trans to block support brace so I stupidly sold them. Looking back - and this may help you - I'm pretty sure spacing the rear set out with another header flange would have fixed the problem.

If you want to hit the "easy" button get a set of Dutras or Clifford shorties. They both fit everything.

Those look like Cliffords for a 67 or newer vehicle. The Clifford "long tubes" for a 65 down look like the ones in post #4. To the best of my knowledge the long tubes never had a "fit auto or fit standard trans" difference. As Rusty said. Also Before the days of the "shorties", Clifford had about 8 or 9 (would have to check my old catalog) different variations of long tubes for different applications.

Some Clifford headers had a template included with them to cut that brace.
PS: The Clifford shorties will not fit a 170 in anything. (I make mine fit). They also will not fit a 225 engine 66 down "A" body with power steering, without modifying.

Uhhh, there's -0- chance those headers fit any body with a 4spd. manual transmission, unless the bellcrank & linkage are made of shape-shifting plasma.

Use a touch and slightly bend them you only need 1\4 to 3\8 , heat the tube ,there going to get heated anyway

Yep that's it. I have it somewhere in my files, along with most of the part numbers for the various Clifford slant six headers
