Did anybody saw this important video of Joe Zolper

-
Joe is right...but as i said a little harsh! The high end cars will stay collectible but when us old guys are all gone the lesser cars and clones won't have much value. Who knows when that will be? Nothing is gained by berating guys like Joe, Nick, Tony, Mark Worman or whoever? They all have something to offer and i enjoy their shows.

I will say this, the value (price) of Tri 5 Chevies stays high and I see none going downward. The prices of other 50s cars decline, and the value of the 30s, 40s stuff declines for sure. In general. High end cars of any period will always have a (high) value, but those kind of cars always have a limited audience.

The investor worries about his investment, us hobbiest worry about having too much fun!

Right but Joe said in video ALL the muscle cars will plummet in value and NO ONE will want ANY of them. Those are his words in the blow hard click bait rant and rave video.

"Tri Five" guys and "Street Rod" guys are +- 10 years older than us.

True "Hot Rod" guys are 20 years older.

There's also they whole "Pre-War" group that's even older, and possibly dead.

Again- I challenge you to find those cars in comparable condition to our cars and see what they are going for.

They have NOT fallen off a cliff.

So lets say all the old ppl who love '55 - '57 chevies die off. Ok, so how many of the cars are left sitting around looking for new homes? I doubt thousands will go up for sale and drive the prices down? With these old cars there is not a mass scale where there will be so many on market driving them down to pennies on the dollar like blow hard rant and rave click bait angry mad at the world Joe says in video. Joe says original wing car prices will nose dive and NO ONE will want them, NO ONE his words. Ok so when all the old ppl die off how many wing cars will go up for sale, like a dozen maybe? Yet blow hard angry man says wing cars will nose dive in value no one will want them?

If I were a betting man I would bet money we won't see any price drops on nice '68 '69 Charger RTs. But blow hard says ALL muscle cars will nose dive and no one will want any of them? Hemi and 6 pack Cudas, which exist in very low numbers, I bet those will never be affordable. But blow hard says across the board no one will want any of them and all of them will nose dive across the board??

I can't argue with anothers crystal ball.
I know dealers ordered parts needed to convert the winged things back to Charger, etc.., when they were brand new. The fiberglass went in dumpsters. So I can imagine very little interest, very few buyers tomorrow. Priced to move or garage clutter. Not all the relics, but some.
So many 55->57 Belaires are 90% aftermarket. The very worst specimens in parts yards are now papa's shinny Chevy. " I like to ride in it sometimes but wouldn't want it. Its huge! Besides, winding windows up and down is too much trouble. Wish he had a Corvette. I would put power window in that."

He sounds like a guy that can barely afford a bologna sandwich and yet he wants to buy a duster at the end of the street for $800 and the guy wants $10k....he can't program me to thinking like him....

I found that video to be rather insulting.

Joe is sure full of himself, that we should just take his word for things, end of story.

A poor attempt at trying to stay relevant.

Let's keep this video handy(as well as Joe's phone number) so in 10 years we'll see how right he is or isn't, and call him up to discuss.

I think the major drawback for the young crowd is the lack of amenities.

I believe they will come up with platforms that will take the body and put it in an electric skate.

AC/airbags/cruise/screens…..

I believe there are enough young people out there to gather up our garbage and make it their own.

There aren’t a lot of examples out there of 67-69 barracuda, or 30s hot rods.

Yeah a few will be discarded but not everyone wants to fit into a box.

CRVs, accords, fits, toyotas, cruze…. Will all have their place as first time transportation, but a few will keep a few around.

1000 hp/1200 ft lbs electric barracuda…. That’s what i see happening.

$0.02

My 2 pennies... It's Never been about the money. It's a pastime, it's individuality. My oldest is (daughter) is AWOL, my youngest (son) isn't interested (unless it's a Ferrari) My middle child (daughter) has given me 3 Grandsons and I'm not even sure if they'd want it. She knows though that these parts aren't junk and the car has decent value along with the 2 fifty year old motorcycles. She Will not give them away nor be delusional about the value. She also knows to keep tabs on the car and if she ever see's it rollin' down the street with 18's, she's to car bomb it!

At 71 & counting I work on my 37 ram & 70 340 duster, because I have always like working with my hands. Plus it beets sitting in front of TV until you die.

I guess I'm lucky. My 29 yr old is heavier into cars than I am, owning a collection of mid to late 50's Fords. Built his first, a '59 F100, when he was 15. The fire still burns within our youth, and I know my grands will be similarly inspired as my son was. My son will cherish my '68 when I'm gone.

I think the love of old cars is a genetic thing, it might not emerge for years or even decades.
I also think that a knack for mechanical things is also hereditary..genetic. Or maybe the amount of common sense a guy has...dunno!

Wifey says she'll sell all my hobby cars and tools for $1. Absolutely no appreciation. She is from a developing country where everything is disposable. Don't know what happened to all the Honda 125 motorcycles, but now all new scooters on the streets there. Ditto for my kids, who learned from mom. They won't even drive our 2002 minivan though it still works perfectly other than the motorized doors sometimes glitch. No understanding of cars, and I can't follow their thought process. Like they all keep saying, "brakes don't work" in one vehicle. There was a problem 10 yrs ago where a flex tube leaked to disable half the braking power (X dual system). I repaired it and e-mailed photos to show the problem, but it's like talking to children. Typical for many people today, who imagine a Tesla is totally different, a literal "spaceship", not knowing it has the same steering, braking, and suspension, as a gas car.

When my dad died we rented three huge dumpsters and and spent two weeks throwing all his **** in them. He did the same thing with his mom.

I'll add-

"Sentimentality" or thinking a car is "special" because of a certain person's memories is the absolute worst thing that can happen to valuation.

As a potential buyer, if I hear any of those words from a seller, I assume I'll be walking away due to an artificially inflated price.

Those memories mean nothing to me.

However, if it once belonged to Jon Voight and there is proof.
That's potentially a different story.

Like his teeth mark pencil in the glove box?

OMG, my dad wouldn't even let me drive his classic car and he sure wouldn't have left me it in his will.
He was a car guy and so am I.

You guys who get left hemi cars and free houses should be grateful.
Kids who sell their dad's pride and joy to buy video games are plonkers!

He is telling it like it is, some get left everything and hate it...
Some get nothing, but that's life...:mob:

Remember Black Ghost that '70 Challenger Hemi 4 spd? Original owner laid on death bed told son never sell the car. Then son turned around and sold it. I would never lay on death bed and say something like that. Sell it all whatever you wanna do. And sell it why you can because value will plummet when buyers are no longer around right???

That "Black Ghost" was a bullshit story that was pushed onto the public. Look closer. No stock Hemi car without wheel tubs running 1970s era street tires was faster than a high 12 second ride.

So true. It was a somewhat partially made up story so it would get the talk and bring more $$$. I say partial true, IF the owner was in fact a cop! I assume that part was true.
