Dr. Diffs shipping cost.

I realize that the prices on everything is rising rapidly. I ordered two of the manual brake pushrod retaining O rings last night. $9.00 shipping for something that should fit in a very small envelope. I imagine it will show up in a huge box with a pound of shipping peanuts. I would hate to see shipping on some heavy brake components or a pair of axles. Just had to vent!

I have had the exact same thing happen to me. One envelope and one 75 cent stamp costing $10 or so. Some companies have converted their shipping departments into profit centers. I realize that you have to account for salaries and materials for your shipping department.

It's bad all over, BUT try getting ANYTHING shipped to Alaska sellers add additional $$$ to the quote just because! I've even had them try to add cost if they were shipping in a USPS Flat Rate Box!! Which BTW cost the exact same to Ak as it does to any of the Lesser 48 States

Just shipped 8 3/4 axles to Australia 298 for the axles 390 fedex shipping said it was the only method he is doing a complete DANA 60 differential e body 250 to ship to LA a friend is picking it up from LA in a seatainer to ship to Australia hobby is getting too expensive

year one got me awhile ago... ordered some decals for my car that would fit in a regular envelope with a regular US postage stamp, the shipping was like $13 if i remember correctly.....ouch!

Depends on the margin they operate on. Companies need to make a profit to stay in business.

Trying getting it shipped to Canada.
Double the price, then add tax and some companies charge a brokerage fee.
Alot banks charge a conversion fee to convert money.

Shipping is getting crazy. Even putting a o ring in a letter now is a no no. I have had two returned saying it has to go first class mail so from .55 to 3.01!

You might be able to send something flat like a thermostat gasket in a envelope but anything with bulk won't travel through the automated machines. It has to be hand stamped and handled and yes, that does cost more.

good way to ship large items that I use quite a bit is through Fastanal. Has to be strapped onto a pallet.

In my experience Cass (Dr Diff) has always treated me fairly and been very responsive to any issues. I just purchased a green bearing and seal from him and it cost me 10$ shipping. I didn't have a problem with that check what it would cost from say rock auto. They are a BIG company and negotiate reduced shipping from the major carriers.

I shipped two door panels from WV to NC USPS.
Packaged as small as possible, it was $75.00

Just mailed a 5x7 photo in a thin frame 70 miles and it cost $5.00 USPS.

With fuel prices where they're at, are you guys really that surprised at shipping costs? Just be happy you have that option available. If you were so inclined, you could always hop in a car or plane and transport those packages/envelopes yourselves.

That's why I don't use UPS very often. Usually the post office is half the price.....sometimes even less if the item will fit in a flat rate box. I think the last time UPS was cheaper than the post office, and I used them, was over 2 years ago.
