But that problem won't exist if I go the OEM route
If you get two modules and two ballast's while you are at it then you are right.
Most everyone who has the OEM carry spares in thier cars for a reason.
But that problem won't exist if I go the OEM route
I prefer stock-type, myself. Easier to get parts for in the future and no "What the hell did I do, again....?" ten years down the road, on the side of the road.

Wait untill your MSD craps on you in Bug Tussle.
Been there. Done that. Got the T shirt.
It's easy to get the MOPAR stock going.
And it sort of looks right.
You don't need the extra giz unless you got a really hot rod engine.
Ive had plenty of MSD Units and none have took a dump on me yet. Maybe Ive just been lucky?
I think a lot of the failures are due to Shotty Installs.
+1 , 10,000 miles since switching from a petronix unit and no problems . Starts firs crank every day , hot or cold . I change cap and rotor every summer just for the hell of it , carry a spare ballast resistor , have yet to use it , and a spare ecu , still in the box .Don't believe all the sky is falling BS. If you carried a spare part for everything that could break on your car,you would never get out of the driveway.
For what your doing, this is all you will need in an ignition system.
The Chrysler ignition has stood the test of time.
Instalation is a breeze. Plus it doesn't look donkey.
:burnout:
I converted from points to MP electronic years ago, back when the entire kit was like $112. Was much easier to start, and have had little problems. Ballast resistor did crap out on me once, and I learned the hard way to always keep a spare in the glove box. This is just for a regular driver with mostly stock 318.
The only thing weird I experienced was hooking up an aftermarket tach. The moment I did that things got weird and I couldn't get the car to start. Disconnect the tach, all is well. Never did try to find the problem, just left the tach disconnected. Hmmm.
Works fine with the factory tach , at least mine does .You just jinxed yourself Jerry.
