E bike adenture to the trauma center

-

I went out for the annual Oside bike ride n taco truck event with my neighbor and rode one of his new small tire e bikes..
It felt sketchy and I didnt like how the front tire wanted to turn going over bumps n such. Well... lol.. around 10:30pm making our way back, which is about a 3 mile venture.. I hit a pothole or something.. and ate ****.

Luckily the neighbors wife was trailing behind in her expedition. They helped me up and into the vehicle and took me home. They asked if I wanted to go the ER, but I said nahhhh. Got home and was feeling it pretty bad.. showered, burnt like hell.. then rolled into bed. Next day my shoulder was killing me and it hurt to breathe.. so I went to urgent care and got some x rays.. nothing broken, whew!.. so then I persisted about how it hurt my back and chest to breathe..which i wasn't sure if just pulled something or was sore from my workout that day earlier. Good thing I mentioned it. I have a collapsed right lung..lol they slid me into a meat wagon shipped me to scripps la jolla trauma center. I have a chest tube in now and they said I could have died had i not decided to go for those x rays. I was even going to try and work that day. They also did a CAT scan, all good.

Been in the hospital for a couple days, should be out tomorrow 'day 3'.

I am glad you are OK. Looks like a nice hospital. What happened to you is a wake up for all of us. If you had just tuffed it out and went home, you could have really gotten into trouble. Since you told them everything that was going on with you that second day, they were able to catch a serious problem and get you to the hospital.

I feel for you. 4 years ago I decided to “get back out there” and go flat track racing after not racing a bike in 15 years. Ended in a similar fashion. Broken scapula, broken collar bone, all the ribs on the left side, rotator cuff, and a punctured lung. Airlifted to Loma Linda and 2 weeks in a bed. It hurt for a long damn time. Hope you feel better soon.

The price for having too much fun. LoL
They're releasing me today I think.

I got one of those electric scooters to ride the dragstrip pits on, and to get the three blocks to my friends house.
Sketchy steering, for sure. WAY too light.
I never felt comfortable on it, and somehow managed to lose the charger for it. I don't miss it a bit.
Glad that you're doing better. Get well... and get a trike.

Took my 1st shat in 2 days, miralax induced raging waters style..
Felt good to clear the pipes tho.
I must say, the steak here was good too..and the Italian wedding soup n cookies.
Glad this ordeal is about over with. Learn'ed my lesson thats fo sho
Thanks everyone

Glad you’re out and felling better! Might want to take it easy for a day or so.

Note to self, never get on any two wheeled contraption with smaller than 17 inch wheels.

Pain killers = Not your friend... Use them when you need to but they play hell with your digestive tract...

Looks like you got some chub on you. That's good. Probably gave you a little more cushion. Get well bud.

Glad to hear that you are on the mend.
It sounds like you got to the trauma center in the nick of time.
Good luck and heal up!

Grab a cold one and take it easy, doctors order.
Also to prevent further harm to yourself, a helmet will be required for all outside activities including walking. lol
