If this question has been asked before I apoligize. I have a stock cast iron intake, four barrel and I'm interested in the Edelbock AVS carbs. So will one of these carbs. bolt up to the stock cast iron intake without an adapter. I looked on the edelbrock website and the pics. show what looks like a dual bolt pattern base plate. I'm looking to replace the thermoquad, tired of the fuel evap. issue and constantly tinkering with it so looking to get something new and trouble free. I don't want to change intakes unless I have to, thanks... The engine is a stock 360 so would the 800 be to much?

An 800 is way to much, use the 650.

Also, use the adapter spacer, the carb will sit to low with the chevy linkage it comes with and hit the EGR valve.

Ok, so if the 800 is to big, but the thermoquad was rated at 800 or above ? Do they work with the high cfm because they are a spreadbore carb. vs. a squarebore? The adapter that you are speaking about, is that the bronze color plate that edelbrock shows or are you talking about the spreadbore / squarebore adapter ? If so I may just keep dinking with the thermo. I'm not a big fan of the adapters. So can someone tell me why those carbs, edelbrock and carter afb's show two different bolt holes in their basplate? Sorry for all the questions, but if I decide to spend money for another carb. I want to make the right choice. Has anyone purchased a reman thermoquad from say like Advance auto or from summit? I realy would like to keep the thermoquad, but I don't want to keep making adjustments everytime I want to drive it. Some here say they constantly have to mess with the thermoquad, because it can become a tuning nightmare at times. Any more input would be helpfull, Thanks...

The dual pattern is a carry over from many moons ago. The early AFB's on Gm's had a narrow bolt pattern. I'm sure other car makes did this also.
