Eggs

It's OK as long as the shell doesn't crack. If the shell cracks, then bacteria can be introduced.

Should see how eggs are sold in other parts of the world. They are not found in the coolers like here, but on the dry goods shelves like cereal…
I saw that in Costa Rica. They have no ac in most stores, either. I guess they know how long they’ll last.

I Have a dozen hens the eggs freeze all the time in the winter it doesn't hurt them one bit .

From the FDA:
If shell eggs freeze accidentally, are they safe?

KNOWLEDGE ARTICLE
Shell eggs should not be frozen. If an egg accidentally freezes and the shell cracked during freezing, discard the egg. However, if the egg did not crack, keep it frozen until needed; then thaw it in the refrigerator. It can be hard cooked successfully but other uses may be limited because freezing causes the yolk to become thick and syrupy so it will not flow like an unfrozen yolk or blend very well with the egg white or other ingredients.

Most of the world does not store eggs in the refer. The FDA/USDA make egg producers wash the eggs before sale, to “reduce” pathogens…

Yup. Eggs are fine left out as long as they haven’t been washed or refrigerated. As soon as they’re washed or caused to sweat by refrigerating them, the natural protective coating on the shell no longer does it’s job and bacteria can get in through the shell, causing the eggs to spoil quicker.

For no more than what a dozen eggs cost, it isn't worth getting sick.
There it is.....[/QUOTE]

it used to be no more than what eggs cost, because of the bird flu just bought a dozen at the store yesterday 3.57 same eggs were 1.90

That's funny that you of all people would raise chickens

Just had my first ever post removed. So this is what it feels like to be a bad boy!

Why’s that?

You remember a company called "bilt rite" ?

it used to be right next door to the high school (or maybe it was the middle school, its been almost 2 decades since ive been there)

We’ve had this conversation before. :p

I don’t remember when bilt-rite was there, but the ironic part is that 90% of the equipment in our barns is Big Dutchman. Well, technically they’re no longer our barns. We sold the farm back in April, we’re leasing and running the operation until the end of June. 37 days left and then we are DONE!!!

yeah, big Dutchman is one of the world leaders when it comes to chicken coups
they tried their hand at hogs too, but that never really took off

i couldnt tell you how many miles and miles of chicken batteries ive made for them

so, are you retiring or just moving on?

Just moving on. I’d love to retire but I’m 28, wife’s 30, just had our first baby and didn’t sell the farm for near enough to retire just yet, unfortunately.

gotcha

sometimes you need a change of scenery

i didnt think you were quite old enough to retire, but i wasnt sure
on a side note, if you are that young, you might have been in that school while i was working next door

thats funny

If you crack eggs and put 1 in each(hole) in a nonstick muffin pan then put them in the freezer for 2.5to 3 hrs take them out and put them in a freezer bag and back in the freezer they last from 6 months to a year.Vacume sealing lasts longer. They just don't make dippy eggs but you can do scramble and use for recipes

Be glad you didn't let the water completely boil out!
My dad did that years ago. He forgot he left some eggs boiling on the stove and left for work. The water completely boiled out and the eggs exploded.
The kitchen around the stove was a mess and the house smelled terrible for about a week!
The house almost always smells bad after I eat hard boiled eggs. Specially if I wash them down with beer.

Me and my buddy tried to hard boil an egg in the microwave in 8th grade. We thought it'd make a mess so we inverted a glass over it, set it for 10 minutes and went to the living room and forgot about it. Pretty sure we were watching one of his dad's porno tapes. Not even a good one.
Boom!
We looked at each other ran back in there and it had destroyed the glass and was a complete pain to clean up. Not a good smelling thing either

Should see what happens when you put a raw egg in a commercial deep fryer. We tried this one day, it is not recommended to say the least…

Dude. I tried that with ice when I worked fast food. It makes bad sounds and will foam and overflow if you put enough in. Ice sinks to the bottom, what did the egg do?

it blew up in the fryer and splatter hot grease everywhere. It’s like putting a ladle of water in a crucible in metal shop. This happened in my high school metal shop class. Was not a good scene. The best was in culinary school, in Asian class they had the jet burners like in Panda, one kid had a giant wak full of oil and on high, the dipshit dropped a whole fish in the wak and it turned into a giant grease fire ball, needless to say that way a fun day…

you think that smells bad, as a kid i had a summer job at a hatchery
sometimes something would go wrong and an egg would go into the incubator not properly fertilized (or maybe the chick died early on, i dont know)
but this rotten egg would have been "cooking" in this incubator for a few weeks
that is to date one of the rancidest (most rancid?) smells i ever came across

I cracked an egg open many many years ago that had a chick starting to develop in it. One of the grosses, slimeyest, stinkiest things ever. I never ate eggs for a few years after that. Kim
