So, as many of you know i have been fighting a electical short on my tail light circuit on my Scamp. The circuit would occasionaly work, but then blow the fuse, i sometimes need to ride the brake pedal in the morning going to work.

Well while digging under my dash to change the heater control, i found what i think may be the power for the radio( my car doesnt have one), and taped it up.

Well after doing that, and replacing the fuse, the tail lights now come on with the headlight switch, but now the headlights dont work. I pulled out the whole instrument cluster, checked everything and put it back in.

My instrument panel has never worked, it illuminates both turn signal lights, when i turn the light switch on, but the blinkers work, and they blink on the panel with the lights off.

Now the parking lights work, but no headlights, which leads me to believe the switch is still ok. Which leads to my next question.

Where is the headlight relay?

Mine is actually a 71 scamp. It shows a delay relay off of th elight green wire on the 71 dart B schematic, dont quite know why ther would be a delay relay on there though.

OK did you check the light green wire where is goes into the dimmer switch ? if it has 12 v when the switch is pulled out for the head lights there is nothing wrong with the headlight switch. If there is no 12v the head light switch is bad.

My Sons 71 Duster had a similar problem, no brake lites and no turn signals all intermitten at times but we did have running lites, So we ran a contunity ck on the wires from the tail to the connectors by the LH kick panel, we knew we were getting power and after some extensive troubleshooting we started to ck the hazard flasher switch, it seemed that when we pulled the flasher out and in we could get the brake and turn signal lights to work, the problem was the turn signal cam swith and hazrd assy, never thought that could be the culprit, Its easy to R&R and it fixed the problem Hope this helps
