I am not sure they made 360's in 70 did they? I would make sure its a 360 before you buy it. Other wise 360 is the way to go!

If I remember correctly the 360 first came out in 74/75. The 360 will fit better then the 383, with little or no modification. What I mean by modification is the motor mount. But that is an easy fix. The 383 is just a lot of work to shoe horn that motor in. Not to mention the trans swapp. :)

Welcome 67

The 360 first was used in the 72 model year I believe. It replaced the 340 in 74 though.

360's came in 71 in trucks/vans. his post said a 70's van so that would be correct. they were used in passenger cars in late 73-on to replace the 340. in a 65, the small block 360 is a much better fit. BUT.., if you want real easy power, nothing beats a big block. but it is a tight squeeze in the smaller 66-down compartment. the strocker smallblock is just a sweet, hard to beat, small package. me, i will never go back to a small block--nothing like a big block a-body. but you will have to make the choice and i would sit down and weigh/price all your options.

ok thanks for the imput. I think i will go with the 360 and stroke it to 408.

(chant) SMALL BLOCK, SMALL BLOCK, SMALL BLOCK.
I,ve got a pair of cast#3418915 that came from the factory on a '70 340.
Why is the date still last Thursday Sept. 30? And no new posts show on the general, tech, body shop,?
