Engine rattle on fresh start up

-
The cam and lifters were new when I installed them in 2007.

That describes it exactly, just a momentary clatter that clears up immediately after starting. It never rattles any other time.

I don't think that I mentioned being "worried", just curious to learn if others have had a similar situation.
I have 3 other hydraulic cam Mopar V8s in cars out back that start up and are as silent as new. Even the 383 in Jigsaw, an engine I rebuilt using a Mopar Performance 280/474 cam. That dude just starts and rumbles.
I'm heading out back to tinker. I'll report my findings....
If that's the case, it probably has light preload on a few and they sound off a tad till they get full pressure. Probably a non issue.

Thanks everyone. I wasn’t worried, just curious. My 2007 truck will rattle upon start up if I’m low on oil. With 414,000 miles, it goes through a bit.

I agree about which oil. Back in the 80's if you used Citco oil your engine it would make lifter noise. My dad was a mechanic back then and found people often having this issue.

Rattle…..GONE.
Fresh oil and filter and on today’s cold start, silent and smooth.
This filter looks similar to the new NAPA filters so I doubt it really is 10-15 years old.

I have some new/old Castrol that has never been opened despite being quite old.

This oil is SF rated….

This is from back when zinc was still in decent numbers.

Fresh oil and filter made the difference here. Score!
While under there, I spotted a couple core plugs ready to spew.
Plenty to do here!
That was my “ go to “ oil back in the day. Lovednit!

A person in town with a 318 dodge truck would rattle on start up so he adds a quart of atf in every oil change and no more w rattle

The 67 Dart of mine is getting an engine swap soon. Currently this is the warm fast idle pressure in neutral.

in gear, it drops to around 12 but does increase immediately with RPM. I don’t think the pump is bad but maybe it needs crank bearings? This mill is standard bore but was reconditioned in 2001 or 2002. I got it in 2005 when my friend sold it to build a better engine. I put a MP 280/474 cam in it and it still runs great.

My opinion is thats fine, it will live A LOT longer with 27 @ 1000 rpm if thats what it's idling at in neutral. if 12 is at like 650 rpm I'd leave it for a while too.

Honestly most of the time I believe its the cam bearings. They don't always get replaced and for whatever reason they seem to wear out.

Really?
Maybe my expectations are too high. My 383 in Jigsaw idles at higher PSI with similar weight oil but I was the one that rebuilt it and I know the bearing clearances. Same with the 440/495 in my other Charger.
Cold idle this 360 is over 50. The roller 360 registered 73 psi while pre- oiling it in May.
At least no knocking or tapping means it isn’t sounding like it is ready to fly apart.

A loose motor will have lower hot idle psi.
I wouldn't rule out the M72 oil pump having a part in it though.
I wasn't too pleased with the last oil pump I bought -what's in my 340 right now- It felt loose.
M
so mine too has a similar hot idle oil psi.
I'm installing an nos 1970s melling hv w/hp spring in it. Mine turns over 7k and atm the oil psi stops at 60ish.. so yeah...

The Dart isn’t “raced” but I do like to thrash around on dirt roads like them Duke boys. No jumps, just lots of sideways dirt drifting stuff. I don’t think I’ve floated the valves much!
