i have heard bad power steering noises before but this is nasty. sounds metallic and whining. i realized i may not have completely bled the air from the new gearbox/pump - could this do it? the cars wheels turn pretty smoothly side to side but at about 1/4 - 1/2 turn there is nasty sound, then it goes away until the wheels are at full turn and then the sound comes back. does this turning left and right.
any ideas? i got it into the garage tonight so i'll jack up the front and try to bleed it correctly. currently the fluid is at the full level. no other suspension items were messed with.
update:
so a bit of research on the web and i realized i needed to add some more info
i know i need an alignment as i just did a k frame swap. also i swapped the wheels from a 74 (cragar keystones with offset washers). i didnt do anything with pads or calipers or rotors. i know that when i had the donor car running, nothing made any extreme noises. the pow steering gear box is a new one.
just trying to determine if i get it aligned first then worry about wheel stuff or vice versa?
