I am finishing up paint and body on my 70 Swinger, I have the chrome tips and a 340 . My question is is there a way to avoid the rear valence stains at the exhaust tips by carb tuning? I know I've seen it before and for example you can watch the original "Vanishing Point" even now and see the stains on the rear valence of the white Challenger RT. will heavy coat of wax help with cleaning? any tips? or is it just a cool idiosyncrasy of these cars? what say you?

I'd certainly try an old school heavy wax not the liquid stuff you get nowadays. Maybe clear film would work too.

So it seems a pretty common thing ? no carb tweaking etc? I suppose if it is "normal" I will embrace it as part of the "old Mopar mystique" :)

My car is new so I haven't had that happen yet. I have to re clear the valence this winter as I have some bodywork to do on one corner (doesn't fit the quarter properly) so I'll think about putting some old Turtlewax on it once that is done.
