Exploded View of Steering Column

I'm not sure what else I can do to help. I could measure the tube diameter I have here.
Many have had a hard time finding something that will work there no matter what year model it is.

I cannot specifically help you with the bearing, but somewhere, floating around the www, and here I believe, someone used a cheap pillow block/ flange block bushed bearing to replace the lower plastic/ bearing assy.

Actually that wasn't, LOL, but whatever works. The one I'm thinking of, someone used what is know as a "flange block" or "pillow block" bearing. Thanks to Google censoship, stupid programming, and rant over, I was unable to find a good example. What you would look for is a cast pot metal "self centering" bushing used in the inexpensive stamped steel flange/ pillow blocks

This is a poor example of what I'm referring to. If you go to an actual bearing/ industrial supply as opposed to a hardware store/ auto parts store, you can buy the bushed insert pictured here, IE without the flanges. The article I remember used this type of bearing insert.

I remeber seeing one here also. Looked alot like a bearing that goes in a front hub of a front wheel drive car. I think that was going in a early A.
Another member did about the same thing I did, went to a bicycle shop and got a bearing to fit the original plastic hub and the steering shaft. I did put a collar a spring below mine and put the inner race in from the bottom up.
Again... whatever works. All you really need to do is hold the shaft cnetered in the tube.

Ok I got the column back together and used a bronze bushing. Found out that I have a 67 column and not a 68, hence why it was so hard to find a bearing. Seems to work great, although I will find out once I get the column in the car. My final question is how much grease do I put into the coupler at the end? Also do I put some in the bottom slide it on and then put more in or ???
