I finally ordered their crate kit for the 5.7 today, I am really stoked... The new XFI 2.0 kits learn and self tune like the EZ EFI... so it should be great. I got it through fastmanefi.com (He has been on here before answering EFI questions in the air/fuel section) I gotta say, so far, he has been very helpful I have been on the phone with him several times, and he did a great job today making sure I got what I need.He has a good price too...

Can't wait to get the Box

JOE

Lucky SOB...that should motor-vate an old Mopar just fine...;-)

Thanks,

I think the XFI is a sweet system, and yes, Fastman knows his stuff. Like I said, I cant wait... I have been pinching my pennies for a while, but it will be worth it when it fires up. Although, that is gonna be a while longer than I would like.

JOE

I am pretty sure I'm going to get one soon. Please let us know how it works out when you get it all up and running.

man I would like to run the fast stuff, but it's way too rich formy blood. I'm going to try my hand with megasquirt instead. Good luck I can't wait to see the result.

I will let you guys know for sure, I will get some pics up in a few days when it arrives just to let you see all the components up close... I am thinking in the glovebox, or under passenger seat for the boxes... Depends on the harness I think, I would rather have it easily accessable, but also don't want a ton of extra wires.
I have a long time until it is ready to fire/run. But I will eventually get there, and let you know how it tunes...

JOE

Congrats Joe! Fastmanefi made it a tough decision to decide between megasquirt and FAST! looks like a very quality product, and support will be second to none with him!

I received the kit this last week, but have been slow getting PICS up since I had to buy a new Camera to do so... Long story...

Anyway,

The kit looks great, it is about 5 harnesses, a few sensors, throttlebody, and the ECU's. Oh Yeah, directions... Everything is well labeled, the diagrams and schametics are readable, I think it should go together well. I gotta do a ton of reading and to finish their EFI video that came with the kit. Then I will start trying to find a spot for the ECUs, and route the harnesses...

That throttle body is nice. Is it Hemi specific? Or will it need an adapter? I might have to look onto one if it's specific

looks good. let us know how it works out. hopefully fastman is better with you then he has been with a good friend of mine.

my buddies kit came a few fittings short. fastman tells him to go to the speed shop and buy them. i'm sorry after spending $4k with you i think you should send me the parts i'm supposed to have.

the second issue is when my buddy ordered his kit he went through exactly what his motor combo was. he has had a few issues with it tuning itself and fastman is now telling him that his cam is too big. so the guy sells him $4K worth of stuff after receiving all the info that is needed and basically sold him the wrong kit. i know i would have huge concerns buying anything from fastman after seeing the trouble my good friend is having with the guy. i bought mine through comp and will use their tech guys if i need anything.

It uses and adapter I believe, which comes in the kit.

Mopar performance makes a bolt on Throttle body, with the M logo on the top of it

I don't like the mopar one. I prefer to avoid it. I have been looking at a corvette TB and making an adapter but the fist one is nice might go that route unless I can find the LS one for free.

However, 03ramit, I think I saw somewhere that a Ford TB will fit, can't remember which one.

JoeBoy,

One knock I heard about the FAST setup is the wires are pretty short, limiting the mounting of the ECU's.......what do ya think seeing it firsthand?

Hard to say for sure, I have not opened all the auxillary harnesses yet, or laid stuff into the car to really know. But, the main Harness has a couple of feet from its designated "firewall plug" to the main connectors, but length does seem to burnup fast once you get in a car. The Engine side of the harness seems a bit long just eyeballing it, (I dont like loose wires) so I was already debating moving their "plug" piece a bit if I need. It does have really long leads for the battery. SO that is nice, because it clearly says do not splice or run to a DIST block for those wires.

I am not going to run the factory heater, so I should have lot s of space under the dash to locate it if I need to move it this way or that.

I have not sat down and figured out what runs relays for the fan & fuel pump yet to know what wires I will need to buy/supply. I am gonna pick up a Ron Francis kit for the rest of the car, then I will really have to figure out where I stand for parts and pieces needed.

I wish you could remember as I have access to just about any factory part under the sun for really cheap. If it comes to you would you shoot me a pm?

I have not heard of a bolt on throttle body that was intended for a ford. There is a guy in eBay who sells an adapter that would allow us to use a ford tb, but it's much more expensive than the $60 option from FAST.

Thats what I was thinking of... Sorry 03 for thinking it was a direct bolt up...

JOE

Ok cool now that tb will it allow you to bolt on? A GM throttle body would be fine as I was thinking about making my own adapter anyway. But for $60 I'll just buy it.

I made my own throttle body adapter. If you're interested I'd be willing to make one for you. Mine is compatible with all three bolt Chevy LS cable operated throttle bodies. You could use a stock 78mm throttle body out of a junk yard or an aftermarket throttle body up to 90mm. Stock is 80mm.

The opening on a 6.1 Hemi manifold is right at 84-85mm.

For this reason, I decided to use an 85mm Power Throttle body.

I'd be willing to make some more if anyone is interested. I think if I made just one I'd need a $100.00. But if I could find orders for five, I'd be willing to make them for $65.00 each.

Here's some pics.

Regards,

Joe Dokes
