I have been on face book for a couple of months now, just to keep in touch with my younger brother and his family in Ohio. I play the puzzle games there after everyone here has gone to bed.

I have facebook, and myspace, was kindof addicted to myspace when it first started getting big, but now i rarely check it, but i do keep up with facebook, its wonderful to keep in touch with classmates and family that are all over the country and even people i know in the military.

I think sites such as these can only get bad if you let them, i mean you can make your profiles private, which allows only who you add as friends to view what you are doing and pictures you post, and nobody becomes a friend unless you approve them.

I do think there are alot of people, probably more so with the younger crowd, get carried away with it, posting "sexy" pics of them selves and the such but its like most things in life, it is what you make of it imo

Well, here's my two cents. (Of course.) FABO and it's sisters, as well as fordsix.org are the only ones I'll be found on. Even then fordsix isn't as cool as what Joey and Adam have set up here. There's no general discussion, there's no "shoot the s*** forums, there's only "let's talk about your Ford six."
While in MN over the summer my wife and I got together with my wife's best friend and her husband a few times and they were talking SpaceBook (yes, I know...) and about how wonderful it is to keep in contact with friends from high school. Yay.
I was asked for my opinion on using SpaceBook (yes, I know...) to keep in contact with folks I knew from 20 years ago. Nope. Don't care to. The folks I knew in high school are totally different people than who I knew, just as I'm a totally different person than they knew. Our lives and experiences have made us strangers to other each now. And I don't need to sit down and reminisce with a total stranger.

I swore I wouldn't do myspace, facebook, twitter, EVER.

Well .. extreme boredom set in one day, and I'm now on facebook. I was hoping to get stalked by some hot ladies from high school, but it hasn't happened yet. 8)
 
Why be afraid? There is more to fear from your nieghbor than getting staulked online. Just like we tell our kids, don't give out your personal information on the web but if you think about it we all (Myself included) gladly give our information out here and it would simply take a little research to get it if they wanted to. IMHO there is way too much out there to explore to be closed minded. Besides would be the last thing some M%^&%$&*&r would want to do is show up at my place unarmed!!!

I don't go on much, I see lame azzis on there all the time I know that are blabbing about the most retarded self absorbed nonsense I ever had the misfortune of reading. I usually have to sever the wall to wall deal due to the ignorant monkey drool they spill onto their keypads/I-phone's randomly throughout the day/s.

But not everyone on there is like this and there are some good experiences too.

Just found this post, megajoltman you funny! I hit the thanks button.

Just deleted my account...only signed up yesterday but it got annoying already...
 
Keep up with the children and the bands movment only....
I have deleted it before because it screwed with my computer a couple years ago...
I do the small post's to make my family laugh and that is it.......
I never seen so many folks saying I can't sleep in my life:tongue9::tongue9::D LMAO!!!
But I do enjoy seeing updates on my family and friends :usa2:

I too thought Facebook (Narcissistbook) was a great way to reconnect with old friends since we move around so much. A couple of years ago it was interesting to see pictures of friend's kids and such. Now it has turned into a place where people share every single moment of their uninteresting lives. What they eat, where they are, what they are watching, what they are thinking,..........

I had a couple of friends visit recently and everywhere we went my phone was constantly buzzing, updating me with their FB posts that they were tagging me in.
I found really annoying and violating my privacy.

Unfortunately, the Navy Ships now use it almost exclusively for Comms between the sailors and their families, command news, etc.. so I use it to keep in touch with my wife. As soon as she gets back from deployment I am deleting it.
 
Facebook account is a lot like a pimple on the ***- not too annoying unless you mess with it too much...
 
I use Facebook mostly to post pictures from car shows (mostly Mopar). I've got over 8000 car show pictures on there.
 
I just got an ear full briefing from Navy Criminal Investigative Service about how foreign governments and others use these websites to spy on us with fake girls, emails listed on these social networks and even including loss of passwords. They said our smart phones have little security against remote hacking especially when people unlock/jail-break their phones. They said the tablets and such have much better security. Bit torrent downloads are very dangerous and they actually flatout told us to PAY for our pornography instead downloading unknown data. This doesn't just apply to National Security, it applies to corporate/company security-PROTECT YOUR AMERICAN INTERESTS.

If you work with, near, for corporate/federal/US interests, try to keep in mind that you can be hacked-leaving your computer on all the time-always logged in, etc.

They tried to impress us, whatever. I had one lousy question for them. I am not by any means close to being the top ten percent of highest intelligent people within the military , but those clowns don't have a single federal website that we can check our computers (allot of people travel-their stuff is vulnerable) for malicious spyware.
