Hey all a car i am looking at has this Hurst shifter ball, I never seen one that says push down.
I know what the factory shifter looks like, but if you order the hurst from the factory, is this what you got?

There were no bolt-on shifter handles from the factory, they all had a bayonet style handle which pressed into the shifter with a couple of stainless shims that captured it. The ball is also an aftermarket unit that probably cam with that shifter...

 yeah ok, we're too young, and the cars older than 25 years so your comment is silly. It appears you're the one who is assuming.

So your saying no Factory Hurst Shifters were bolt on? Never seen one always seen bolt on, intresting.

I meant its been on since this dude bought it 25 years ago.
I know how to add 68-2025 is about 57 years

I have had dozens of 68-69 Darts and Barracuda's and every single one had bayonet style shifter handles. I bet if you take a good look at the shifter you will find Super Shifter or Competition Plus on it...

The ability to add is commendable. Don't ask for opinions if you're not going to like the informed answers.
Push down shifters are typically straight like a VW Beetle, not curved. How many times have you attempted to push that particular shifter down to get it into reverse?

It is a 64-65 A-Body shifter and handle with the wrong ball on the end. Should be 3/8-24 fine thread Ivory ball with just the shift pattern and a flush lock nut. It is a better shifter than the original 67 Inland or original 68 Hurst shifter.

It couldda been there FIFTY YEARS and still be an aftermarket. Which it is.

I know I've never seen a bolt on shifter handle on a Mopar. But then, I ain't seen it all, either.

The ball is from a hurst super shifter, and handle is 64-65 A body.
This is correct , ball from a super shifter and an early model at that. To meet some drag strips safety requirements you had to buy the Hurst reverse gear lock out handle and add it to the shifter. Later models of the super shifter had reverse lockout standard. The early push to reverse models are getting hard to find and the balls are also.

68 Barracuda had Inland shifter in them until roughly Jane 1st Then Hurst for rest of the year. All Hurst were push in handles like above said
