Hope you don't mind if I put in a vote for one of my heroes...
He gave his hearing for rock and roll... Pete Townsend. At the Deep End concerts, performing Magic Bus accoustic. I'd rather hear Pete and Roger do something like this than to hear The Who with the volume turned down like they did in the 80's...

Won't get Fooled Again, from the Kids Are Allright...the only movie I've ever been to that was stopped twice by the police.....and gave me concern that the theater might be damaged at the end! I saw 4 thousand people go nuts when their "last concert" was simulcast here in Omaha in 1982...many bands can't get that reaction in person!

And don't forget Gary Moore...for a lovey song, this thing really gets going.
Still Got the Blues..

I love these threads!

What a way to spend a couple hours and some great players out there. The robot guitar is something new, quite enjoyed that.

Can't forget my favorite, Randy Bachman

In all seriousness, Herbert Khaury deserves some respect as his was certainly a unique act and he was also well known for his knowledge of pre-rocknroll era music. Check out his Wikipedia entry.

I know all you rockers probably ain't gonna like this, but IMO the best of the best is a guy named Tony Rice. Long known in Bluegrass circles, his mastery of the acoustic guitar is nothing short of amazing!!! I know I ain't alone in this, but I know the bluegrass lovers here are few and far between. I know at least one other player who agrees with me though... a little known guy named Eric Clapton. When asked who he thought was the best guitar player he had heard, his answer was Tony. Sorry, I am on dial up and can't post youtube stuff, but look him up if you have the time, he is incredible!!! Now, back to our regularly scheduled program!!!

A legend and hes still playing today, absolutely amazing in concert, watch the last video in its entirety to see and old guy who like wine has gotten better with age, good stuff!.

What an awesome thread!! Whats cool is seeing some of these people in smaller venues like Trower at Harpos, Alvin Lee at Meadowbrook, Johnny Winter at Chene Park,or Buddy Guy at The Soup Kitchen Saloon. Really brings back memories. One of my favorite players is Ted Nugent when he plays the 6 string bass, thats an awesome sound!!!

Thanks 64dart170 for posting the Tony Rice!!! Although I am on dialup, I did spend the last 20 minutes or so waiting for the Nine Pound Hammer to load. Time well spent pickin' while I was waitin'!!! And if resonator guitars can be included in this thread, I'd go one further with Tony and nominate Jerry Douglas, also in the video and another master of his craft. Thanks again for puttin up with me on this one!! And thanks to ABodyBette for startin' this thread, it's one of the great ones!!! Geof
