Been looking for a new set of 13" narrow whitewall tires for my old '65 Dart more-door, and not having much luck.....

Coker was wanting over $320 PER TIRE....I just wasn't wanting to spend that much for little itsy-bitsy tires for my old rusty junk.

But I did run across this place, Priority Tire, that advertised a 175/80R13 narrow whitewall for $82.64 each....

Looked good on the internet, so I called the toll-free number and spoke with the lady there(who was very helpful)....

Long story short, I have five of these on the way for a grand total of right around $440...and the shipping was free.

They said they should be here in about 3-4 days....

I can't wait to see how they look on the car with the original hubcaps.....

rick, by chance in your search did you come across any wide-ish white walls? like not full boat, but something more along the lines of 2" or so?

i'm going for a specific look, and like you the search has been scant and what choices there are seem to be are all prohibitively expensive.

Just an FYI.
The 185/70-13 tire size is the wider replacement tire for a 165-13 or a 6.00X13 in the oe sizing.
So it is not the correct size. It is a smaller tire than stock both in width and height
The 175/80-13 is the replacement for the 6.50-7.00 13 which is the correct load range and tire diameter.
Walmart sells this tire with the w/w for about $80
The information can be found in the Factory Service Manual in section 22.
No matter what year of Service Manual, the section numbers are always the same, the section numbers never change.

I did list the size incorrectly when I made the first post....got my numbers turned around.

I have edited it for the actual tires I got which were the 175/80R13.....

You might try browsing the website I put the link up for, or give them a call.

The lady on the other end seemed to be pretty knowledgeable and was pleasant to deal with, and she did say their warehouse was in California.

Vredestein Sprint Classic tires are another that might be worth looking at. They have a 185/70R13 option. Not a white wall, but still meant to look like something from that era.

the vredestein's are awesome, but man are they a chunk of change!

michelin pilot exalto PE2 is available in 175/65-13's and look to be a great tire that's not quite "sell an internal organ" priced. they don't have too modern of a tread pattern either.

Here are these Milestar 13" tires on my Dart:

Last year I posted this about the same problem with 13" tires:

The challenge is not what is an equivalent tire size from a conversion chart but rather what tires are still made and sold right now! That is the challenge.

There were two sizes originally for these early A bodies:
6.50-13 (23.4" dia.) for 6 cylinder cars
7.00-13 (24.7" dia.) for V8 cars

The 3 sizes you can still find are:
185/70-13 (23.2" dia.) Closest to 6.50-13
175/80-13 (24" dia.) In-between 6.50 and 7.00-13
185/80-13 (24.7" dia.) Same as 7.00-13

My choice was between 175/80 and 185/80 for my v8 car (and these sizes are white walls!).
175/80-13 is $300/set
185/80-13 is $790/set

I went with the 175/80-13 at $300/set since the size splits the difference between 6.50-13 and 7.00-13 (sort of 6.75-13).
I just couldn't justify $790/set for only a little size difference.

I bought 2 trailer tires only cause I just using them to move the car around
Till I got my rallies
Ill put them back on when I do the body work

Maxxis offers the MA-1 P185/80R 13" tires through its website, shipped direct for $176.57 each. I just spoke to their sales rep who confirmed this is not a discontinued tire and is, in fact, a "good seller." MA-1

176 each ooooouchy
I remember when they were like 39.95
Think i paid arould that for my 215 70 15 bfg last year

Thanks for the info. It’s always a problem

Trying to see if I can find performance tires in 14" - Hoosier T.D.R. and R7 tires are available in both 13" and 14". Ok, that's definitely not cheap, and pushing those tires to their limits in an A-body takes a special kind of crazy awesome...

there's decent handful of true performance tires in 14" (falken azenis, nitto NT's, etc) but the problem is that they're all narrow (185's and 195's) and SHORT short, most running in the 23" range and they're "street" tires in spirit... like think about rain and you're on rollerskates and forget about any kind of mileage.

for the most part they're 150ish range a clip, but sometimes you can grab some close outs on tire rack for a little cheaper.

fwiw, in my dart i never found the limit of 205/50-15 falken azenis on the street, it took the track to exploit that level of grip.
