I like a slant 6......here is my 62 Running down the strip:

Here is what it looks like:

I say a small block would be cool too.....build it the way you would like it.Heck, I have a 1962 413 block if you really wanted to go BB!! Have fun w/ it......if you need front turn signal lenses.....or dash parts, I have alot of that stuff. Cheap too!!

i did a 5.9 magnum conversion in my 62 lancer used schumaker motor mounts not a bad conversion. next comes a 3g hemi in my 61 lancer. the potential's and posibbilties are there

I would go bone stock,or full race car with a slant.Haveing a slant going in the 11s or 12s gets more wows than anouther big block or small block in the 10s or the 11s,and is too easy.IN MY BIASED OPINION.Guzzi Mark

update i cleaned the car out to see what i got i had to put the grill and head lights in:)

Looks like a nice solid foundation. my choice would be a low-deck stroker 4-speed 8)

Here's my old girl....pic taken in 1990.....I'm going to put a stroker SB in it...318/390.

The engine bay in the 60-62 a bodies was the smallest of all. The 63-66 was a little larger to fit in the 273 V8. Even the 67 and up was a tight fit for the big blocks (no power steering!) I would go for a slant six build up. Nice car by the way-my uncle had one in black in Calif back in the mid 70's, drove it every were-even off road. The manual steer was awesome it was so light.

Keep them ideas coming hopefully next week I can post some pics when I do a front disc brake upgrade
Thanks fabo!

Here's some updates on the 62 valiant I cleaned the interior up and put it in place also I got the car on four jack stands and I'm preparing to upgrade the front brake to a set of 71 small bolt pattern KH disk brake. Also I got my 4 speed pedals and the trans hump on the way thanks "superdart340" for the hump I can't wait to see it
Thanks fabo
Aaron

Aaron great progress! Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming!!

If you go v8, the only real issue will be the heater box. Other than that it is a staight forward swap like any other 63-66 A.
Heres a pic of the "test fit" on the Lancer.

Well I started the front disk brake swap today and I found that all the bushing and ball joints are dry rotted I almost forget I'm dealing with a 48 year old car so I guess ill be doing a complete rebuild on the front end

I have a question..are you gonna have the disc,s resurfaced? They look to be just sandblasted. Is also piece of mind to have new parts in the frontend of the old girl. What engine have you decided on?Cool car and good luck with the build.

Yah all in hardware is on the way I needed to get her back together because I'm getting ready to do the re end and back half so I had to be able to turn her around in the garage
