First time at the track results

-
If it is a leaf spring car it is not supposed to squat in the rear, it is supposed to rise.

So the thread title no longer applies but made some more improvements on my junkyard Magnum build on Friday night. This is now my fourth time to the track and still having a blast. First and fastest run of the night;
7.987 ET
88.72 MPH
1.965 60'
0.058! Reaction Time

Drove down with my wife and 8 year old in the car. I'm pretty sure I was the only racer out there with a child's car seat mounted in the backseat : ) ...camping chairs and tools in the trunk.

Nice improvement.

Still has a bunch of 60' time in it. MPH has 60' in the high 1.6 to low 1.7 range and 7.6x ET's

Keep chipping away at it.

I agree, although I think it will take a better converter to do it. 7.98 in the 1/8 should go 12.50s in the 1/4 if it pulls out the back right.

That's a hell of an improvement. That baby is starting to move...

This was my last run of the night. Heads up against a GTR. I had him till just before the finish line and he MPH'd past me. Almost pushed my foot through the firewall trying to get more out if it and take the guy!

Man you really jumped out on that GTR! Looking really good so far. I agree with others that you're missing out on some ET in your 60 ft. That will get better as you learn the car and tune.

Bought some drag shocks from my neighbor 6pkscamp. Those will go on the car before my next outing. I have the original slant 6 T bars also I could install to help in the front end. Overall I'm really pleased with the results given it's such a budget build. The magnum makes gobs of torque and wants to come out of the whole like a sling shot, especially when and if I get it to hook. It also spins up REALLY fast. I hit close to 7k coming out of the whole on my first run, mainly cause of tire spin.

I'm having a hard time getting a good burnout. The back brakes are overpowering the fronts. I'm thinking of installing a line-lock to solve this. Like evybody says, if I can get it to hook my 60s should come down along with ET.

Enjoying the ride.

What type of tires are you running again? If you're running a slick (which I'm assuming you're not), it needs a good burnout. If you're running something like a MT drag radials, those DO NOT require a big burnout at all.

MT Drag Radials
235/60R/15s

I'm getting mixed feedback on proper burnout on these.
I am dropping the pressure to below 20psi which helps. Not to mention this is not a full time prepped drag track. It is pit row at Homestead Intnl Speedway. But that's not an excuse. I've seen slick equipped cars pull the front tires off the ground, so good traction IS possible.

Been using mt drag radials for over 6 years 15 psi is where they work best...some people don't but i do a nice burnout before each run..1.60's 60'...
