sometimes i guess blind dumb luck has helped us all. as i was getting ready to make some fuel lines for 1 of my projects, i started to flare a 5/16 line. after i set up the line to be flared, i did the 1st flare. as i removed the adapter i noticed what i call a dog knot. i looked at it and after id did ,i thought that the 5/16 hose would slip over it and not cut it. and there would be a knot that i could put the clamp behind. i slipped the hose and clamp on and it works for me beautifully. pics in order.
1-set up of line
2-add adapter
3-after flare
4/5-pis of flare. hope this helps and if already benn posted, sorry.

I've done that very thing 'on purpose' but sometimes the grooves left by the clamp of the tool makes for a leak problem

i have not started it yet. it is a low pressure tbi system on a 91 d150. hopefully it will be good to go. i used the 50 psi hose with the mopar efi clamps

The most important operation it missed was hittin it with some sand paper. That thing is ROUGH.

when i saw the knot and realized it might be better than a double flare for what i was doing, i did not intend to continue to make it a double flare. rrr, i did clean it up with crankshaft paper and scotch bright and blew it out with air.
