Found 340, cannot read the vin pad

Looks blank to me, what year block? Date should be cast into other side. Motor machining data is stamped below head on drivers side.

The block casting date appears to be 8-21-71. Can you clean it up a bit more?

Looks more like a rust hole in the freeze plug.

yep. here's mine that I bought last weekend.

I looked below the driver's side head, I don't see any numbers

could just be an offer the counter , mopar parts house supplied . they used 340 in the marine division as well . i think even a reverse rotation for twin screws boats .

does it have a cast crank ?

There's a little rust still on that pan rail pad. Start scraping with a good straight putty knife or similar.
