Gen 3 block weights for those interested

I caught that. I would expect the Dart to be heavier. Stronger/thicker in places that need it. Going back to the LA small block realm, the R blocks and Ritter blocks are heavier than a standard block. For very good reason. I looked at that block at PRI two years ago. Impressive, impressive price too I'm sure. Stock gen 3 block can handle a good bit. Most guys probably won't"need" the Dart block. It's awesome to see the availability!

We just put a Ritter block into our 73 Roadrunner J/SA as
we have used up our R stuff.

Only real strange thing was no on Oil provision on the back of
the block. I think Jon had to pick up the oil pressure inside the Bell housing
area.

I googled to get a frame of reference. The info I found showed a bare 360 block at 155-160lbs.

The earlier ones (starting with 34 or 36) are heavier and
in my experience sonic test consistently better,

Ring Seal trumps even 50 lbs extra weight every time on the
race track.

It seems I read somewhere years ago that the R1’s were around 240#, about the same as a 400 block.

I figure it’s probably the best way around the lifter issues that seems to be inherent in the third Gen design. But it’s really not a problem if you get the rpm up often enough during regular usage to keep the top end lubed up, though.
