Morning all.

Bumped up the previous thread so that my pics and stuff of the "before" would come up. I didn't realize how spaced out in time all this would be. . .

Now, some more of the "during": Ah, the process of teardown!

My helper and I- she tore off the chrome and other goodies while I tackled the dash and firewall. . .

Obviously, this didn't happen all in one day; I had to force a day or two each time I was home from work to just concentrate on getting this lady prepped to go to the body shop!

. . .and then I had a thought: I really need to get the engine bay and bottom blasted clean so that my shop will have a fighting chance to get good welds on. . .and so I can Rhino Hide and detail the underside the way it ought to be. Kudos to several of you here that have gone that step- it sure looked great, and I was motivated to do the same. :-). . .

. . .and then, things took their own course. The paint and grease and grime and Everything was coming off so darned easy!

crappy left fender from Waaaayyyy before wreck and body work done when I was a twenty one year old. . .

. . .I was scared of how the sandblast might warp the panels, but the fellow that did it for me also restored cars and such and convinced me he could do it cool enough not to ripple the body. . .

. . .so here is more of the same. I am pleased with the results, stoked to see this dear lady of mine finally getting the restivification she has so deserved for so long. . .

. . .and I can't wait to get her on the road complete!

Looks like you hve a nice car to start a restore with. Just keep up the work and it will all come around. Better get some epoxy primer or self etching on that body while she still good and clean. Matt

. . .and I got some more fixes for that: whole quarters and sections for the window glass areas in the back of the truck!

Thanks Matt. I am not familiar with self etching, but she is staying inside at the body shop that is doing the work for this week. . .and they start immediately with the cutting and welding for me this next weekend. The fellow that blasted her said much the same about finger and hand prints showing up in the bare metal.

Now, I start reconditioning hinges and chrome and aluminum and engine and tranny and. . .

. . .I hope I can get her back on the road in a year, money and time to work always the choke point.

Guys and gals, I have really enjoyed watching everyone work on their joys here- keeps inspiring me to push ahead. I really appreciate all the input and advice- keep it coming!

Mike

Looking good and I bet the shop that is doing your work will put the self etching primer on after the welding work is dun Good to see a great helper jump in and enjoy this great project  Keep up the good work, Looks like you have a dandy Barracuda =P~

Yea, Memike I am proud of her too- she is learning which socket to use just by looking at the head of the bolt, doesn't go wandering off after 15 mins or so. . .and is really happy to see one in its "neckkid" state as she has the convertible to drive and wrench on too all too soon. That's where "Charlotte" aka "Charlie" will be getting her miles on.

Appreciate the votes of confidence!
