Getting ready to set up my Dana 60

I've got a Dana 60, strange 35 spline axles, 4.56 pro gears and a spool.
I am thinking about taking the spool into work and machining a bit of the press off of the bearing surface so the bearings can come off and on to set up the gears without having a pain in the ***. Anybody have experience doing this?
I don't have the original carrier to see what it was shimmed at

Hone a set of bearing. Light hand press on/off

Get your set up then press the good ones on and go.

don't know if you do this or not. i put the shim that normally goes under the rear pinion bearing, under the rear race. that way you don't have to pull the rear bearing if you need to change the pinion more forward or backward. easier to remove race than take a chance on hurting rear bearing.
