Glove box pops open under mild acceleration

-
I have some 67 spring loaded GB doors with the hinges, if interested, PM me your email address and I'll send you pictures.

That was the accelerometer on my old Dart. Of course it also popped open when I hit a big bump too.

The 67 convertible had a locking glove box. Thaat lock assembly fitss the same hole as common pull handle. So you get the 67 vert lock and catcch/hasp. Take the lock cylinder apart and rearrange or remove all the the springs and tumblers. OK If not sure the little thingys are called tumblers in this type of lock but anyway.. either your trunk key wwill operate it with 1 or 2 of those properly places to match your ignition or trunk key. With all of them removed any key will turn it. The door will look right and wont fall open.
I did this to my 67 notchback even though a lock on a cardboard box was always ridiculous as security. A thief needs only aa razor knife the open the bottom of the box.
