Can anyone tell me how much et I would see going from a TCI 4000 stall 10" to a T/A 5400 stall 8"? Motor combo is real simple. 344 4.070x3.31" stroke, 12:1 TRW pistons, M1 single plane, W2 heads worked over, .590 Solid FT purple cam, aluminum rods, 850 holley on E85, 1 7/8" headers, 2750 lbs race weight, 904 trans with a brake, and 29.5x10.5 slicks. Also wondering about a low gear set if that's a good
move or not? Thanks guys !

about 30 yrs ago..i switched and picked up about 4 tenths...

low gear set are great for heavy cars ,,,,at 2750 race weight.....i would stay with the standard gear....

Just going from a TCI to a T/A is a plus in my book :D. As far as the low 1st gear, I agree with Tony (above) that it's not worth it at your weight.......Unless your trying to run a high gear (low numerical) for some big mph?

Win,win,win...a good Turbo Action, destroying anything off the shelf T.C.I. does.Sounds about right, weight wise.

Going from 10" to 8" alone would let the engine rev faster IMO just because of the less weight needed to accelerate.

I noticed this on my low powered 318 daily '73 where I used a stock mid-'60s 12" convertor and went to a stock mid-'70s 11" convertor in front of a A518.
