I bought a Haynes repair Manual a few weeks back. As I had not worked on this car in almost 40 years. I thought the book would fill in for my memory lapses from when I worked on my first Duster.

Well I have to tell you that the Haynes Repair Manual is as worthless as teats on a bull. A terrible waste of money. Wish I would have found a Chilton. That was a great reference book way back in 1971.

Just about everything I am doing I am doing from memory, just common sense, or muscle memory. I have pulled more parts and opened up areas of the car that I never have before.

I am either braver or dumber than I was 42 years ago.

You will have to find an old Chilton because the new ones are just like the pos Haynes. You best bet would be to buy a factory manual that just deals with your year of car.

You do know there's several factory manuals you can download for free? What year in particular?

Yup, haynes blows.

I'm a big fan of "Motor's".

Theres a couple on ebay fairly cheap.

I mentioned this on Facebook. A friend is back home in Michigan and says she will go thru her late fathers manuals from his auto repair shop and bring me what I need, if she has it to bring.
Problem is I need them now, but, of course, I did not say that to her

That's why anybody with any sense on here always recommends the factory service manual.

Where do we find these links here and is there one for Barracuda's
I know the dart one will have almost everything I want but a barracuda
one would have the correct wireing diagrams (maybe).Once this post is buried it would be nice to know where to find these links. Cheers.

I know of no freebie for Cuda/ Barracudas. Most of those links are hosted by the good member here, AbodyJoe. They were originally posted in a thread here. I don't remember who came up with the 65 manual, and the MyMopar site has a lot of info, as well as some which is "not so good" -- some of the casting numbers, and rear axle widths are not correct, etc.

Thanks , guess I'll download the 69 manual you posted

Cheers.

I live in California, 805 area code.Same company,in my area. A company bought both Chilton's and Haynes. The FACTORY SERVICE MANUALS ROCK.....

Haynes manuals have pretty much always sucked.

Engine Removal:

1. Open hood
2. Remove engine
3. To reinstall engine, follow steps in reverse order.

:mumum:

Old Chilton manuals are great, I have a bunch. You can usually find them on eBay. They don't always have everything the factory manual does, but there are usually a few things in there that the factory manual glossed over, or better pictures. Ultimately though, if you're going to turn wrenches on these cars you need to have a factory manual.

A kid I went to high school with dropped by and brought me a Chilton book. 1972-1979 This should be of some help. My duster is a 71 but not much really changed in that year, except new tail lights

With all due respect, what is it that you don't get?

YES!! THIS IS a serious question!!

I hate to be Captain Obvious, but he's saying to just use the factory manuals that have been handed to you right in this thread... problem solved.
