I've just miked my new set of blue Felpro 8553PT @ .054".What I need to know is their compressed thickness.
Thank you in advance

I thought that was the comp thickness of those gaskets. Did you look at there website for info or call them? IMO, that would be the best bet.

Rumble - I was thinking the same thing - Can anyone confirm that the crush thickeness of the 8553PT is .053th?.......(I need to buy a set myself!)

The package my gaskets came in said what the compressed thickness was, Fel-Pro did have the info on their website though.

Then the .054 gasket crush to .043, then what do the .039 gaskets crush to?

Good point Rumble . I have to admit that I'm a little confused here. Also if that is the case , when figuring out final compression ratio using a CR calculator, should we input .043" rather than 0.54" in 'gasket thickness' after all .043" will be its final thickness. Also if the .039" gaskets crush to somethig less when figuring out 'quench ' should we use the figure the gasket crushes to?

I hear ya! I used the .039 gasket on my zero piston deck height 360, though I had no problems, it would have been real wonderful to hear pistons smacking the heads on start up if things were different.

I went down and measured the only used FelPro blues I have here at the moment. the engine had head gasket issues and these are only compressed to .050. Sorry to add to the confusion...lol.

That's what it looks like... I measured .043-.044 about 8 years ago. I've never re-measured so things may have changed.

The Fel-Pro 8553PT is listed at .055 "pre-crush". Its the 340 gasket for the higher comp 340 with above deck slugs.

Ive been told to figure between .004 and .006 th crush.

The 1008(?) is the std "kit" Fel-Pro that crushes to .039-Not sure what it starts out at though! LOL!!

I use the 1008 .039 (.0385 actual) crush gasket on my .011 out of the hole flat tops with small chamber W5's 47cc's. The pistons don't hit the heads with .0275 clearance. You can sure see where they are when you take it apart though.
