Head Lights

These thread are always a kick.

My suggestion whether you have a kit built or buy something, don't cheap out on what you use. There are some horrible low dollar products out there with sub standard relays and using wire sizing that doesn't do the end user any favors. IMO, if the wire in the kits is not at least 14ga or larger, walk away.

Acordding to the GE website the amp flow is about the same as the high quality 9003 bulb so I dont see why we need a relay. To use the night hawk bulb you still need a housing to mount in and the quality of the housing and the reflectors has more to do then the bulbs.

Actually, the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/GE-H6024NH-Nighthawk-Automotive-Headlight/dp/B000H29WN2/ref=au_as_r?ie=UTF8&Make=Plymouth%7C43&Model=Duster%7C363&Year=1973%7C1973&carId=001&n=15684181&newCar=1&s=automotive&vehicleType=automotive"]GE Nighthawk 6024 [/ame]is a direct bolt in, and was recommended on FABO as the best bulb short of HID. No housing needed.

I spliced the relays into the original wiring just next to the battery, and used the factory harness and bulb plug as is. MAJOR difference before/after relay, and a noticeable difference Sylvania to Nighthawk. (NOTE: the latter may be old verses new bulb, as the Sylvanias were more than 5 years old)

According to this 16 gage wire can carry 5 amps 15 feet with only a 3% loss, and my distance is only 2 foot and 7 foot to the drivers and passenger bulbs from the relay. Thus, I did not run larger 14 or 12 guage wire, or buy a new ceramic plugs.

For lots more info, see Dan's website.

Below is a comparison of the beams for my 73 Duster with nighthawks and relays and my wife's 2012 Accord. Also, the location of the relays, as long as I'm posting pics.
