Heater won't turn off

I checked all the controls and they seem to be hooked up properly but I'll be damned I have hot air coming in under the dash on my '67 Dart no matter what I do. I can feel it on my hand when my hand is on the shifter.

Can someone take a picture of the heater box under the dash so I can make sure everything is hooked up as it should be?

Also is there a way to at least just disable the heater for now until I get this all sorted out? I only drive the car now in the summer so heat isn't something I need right now.

You could loop the heater hoses.

Or in my opinion a better option...... Put a manual valve in one of the heater hoses (this allows you to have heat or not have heat by opening or closing the valve under the hood).

Another thing you can do is get under the dash and manipulate your air doors by hand and find out what the problem is.

Did you switch from AC to non-AC?

Dont have AC.

Is there always heat being made in the heater box and it's only the doors that close that stop the heat from being released into the car?

Mine appears to be a little different?

On that diagram where the defroster hose connects to the heater box, there seems to be a spot where another hose it supposed to go near where the defroster hose is coming from.

Yes, you always have heat (hot water) flowing through the heater core on non-AC cars. The doors control and direct the heat.
