I've been hanging around for awhile but just recently signed up. First, a big (wait I'm in the Small Block area huh?) small hello from the big Pacific Northwest. I've recently expanded my horizons and pick up a semi nice 1970 A-body 360/727/8.25. Mostly I've been a "Shove it or leave it" kind of guy. What can I say, I still have the first car I bought in high school (57 chev) and that was a long long time ago. Anyway, I came across a brand new, never fired P5007647 402 crate motor @ half the price of list. Hope it was a good buy/choice. The guidance I'm looking for is: What should I use for the rest of the running gear? I have a new 390 posi chunk but no housing as of yet and I can get my hands on an A518 instead of the 727. I have no knowledge of the rearend presently in the car other than listed. The car will see the track about 12 times a year. 1/8 mile runs mostly, 7.50 or slower. I'd like to make some fun runs and cruises without needing 10 hours of sleep and a bowl of Wheaties in the morning to start recovery. Fabrication and skill set is not a problem and a reasonable budget is available. Also, I want to staying naturally aspirated and with no power adders. Thanks a bunch for your inputs.
