Hemi Swap Info

Does ANYONE have a drawing of the ECM, showing the pin #/ wire color and what they feed? This was easy to find for doing a Magnum swap but seems to be a big secret for the Hemi swap.

Yes, I've been looking high and low for a full size electrical drawing. I'm going to start making my own!

Here is what I used, its for an 05 Ram 1500. The connector cavitiies should be numbered if I remember correctly. Hope this helps!

Thanks ralphie361, that's what I was looking for. I'm working on an 04 unit, but i'll bet it's the same.

Thanks again,
Tom

Update: 4/10/2015

I am building a wiring cross reference sheet and my first stand alone harness. Believe it or not dodge used several different pin out configurations on the ecm's through the models an years. 03 ram, 04-05 ram, 06 ram all slightly different pin outs on the NGC connectors.

It is hard to make a one size fits all tutorial without the connector pin cross reference.

This is great that you are putting the effort into getting the information out. The lack of info readily available is a large part of the reason the Chrysler swaps are less popular than the Chevy/Ford. Make the info available and they will come. Letting folks know they can accomplish a swap without having to send thousands of bucks worth of Chrysler tax to someone who holds the golden ticket.

I have stumbled backwards into a 5.7 swap into am A100 pickup when my old 318 turned into a money pit to get it where it needed to be. I will be using a NAG1 as it is short enough to work in this little thing. Not many options when you have a 90" wheelbase and the engine is behind the front axle centerline. I don't have any solutions yet for the engine and trans electronics but am aware of the intrinsic difficulties with the NAG. I know of the two "popular" stand alone options and the one where you send the pile of controllers out and have it reflashed. I would prefer to use easily programmable controllers and I suppose cracked OEM ones would fulfill that requirement. I'm also fine with using Mega Squirt for the engine and one of the stand alones for the trans.

Bla bla bla, anyway, thanks for your efforts and I am following this. I have ordered my 2013 truck 5.7 and it should be heading this way soon, the NAG is on the floor so it will be coming together soon enough.

Im definitely going to be following this thread. Im picking up an 05 Rumblebee transmission/harness/fusebox/converter/ecu/driveshaft tomorrow for $350 total. So id like to take advantage of this deal i have on all these parts and try to use it to save me a bunch of money on this swap in the long run. I've been working with electronics and advanced radar and weapon systems the last 10 years in teh Navy so im looking to try my hand at a harness of my own first before I pony up $1000 for a hotwire harness. Thanks for all the work your doing Yellowfin, ive been messaging people on here who have done the swap themselves and all i can get is "here are the books I used as a reference, figure the rest out yourself". I appreciate the small nudge in the right direction but come on guys share teh info it will make for a better more educated community faster.

If they gave you the info that they used to successfully modify their harness, short of doing it for you, it seems to me they have done everything they can to help you.

As nice as it would be to have a simple pinout for a harness, its much too complicated for that. Pinouts change between ECU's and models as mentioned, optional systems muddy it up even more.

Paring down a factory harness in a retrofit is going to be extremely time consuming.

It all depends on how long it takes you to save up the $1000 for the hotwire harness.

That pin-out list for the 05 Ram is a great start. Just need the same for the 08 300 SRT8 and I am away I think. Having a cross-reference would be a great help for everybody.

Ive got the manuals and picked up my trans/harness/ecu from an 05 Rumblebee today and im in no rush so ive got plenty of time to try and get this done myself. Hopefully with just the nudges ive gotten so far. If i can get it all knocked out myself ill share amy wuccesses or failures I have.

I am really glad you guys are tackling this. I am looking for a hemi now to do the swap into my 68 notch. It will most likely end up with the 5.7 and a 6 speed. This info will help me and guys like me a bunch. Thanks again.

I take it you guys havent figured out that you can get a cd from ebay with a 6-10 year spread on a Ram or Durango or .... FSM that has all the different years of wiring of diagrams of the pcm as well as all the connectors for $15?

Any links?

Advancements have been made and we are moving right along. I have a cross reference excel spreadsheet comparing pin for pin, the 2004-2005 Ram ECM VS the 2006 LX car ECM. Available to anyone who wants it, just email me.

I also have modified my GM bench tuning interface to work with NGC Chrysler ECM's.
It isn't the prettiest at the moment because I am doing some R&D on the design, but it is functional.

Hopefully I will have the tuning out of SKIM functions resolved by working with HP tuners soon. Once that is done, I can test my harness for functionality to verify that my methods are correct. If it all works, I will publish the info for the Mopar Community. It's time we start sharing info with our brethren!

Email me at [email protected] for Hemi Swap Related info, as I check it a heck of a lot more often right now. I'm so focused on figuring this out that I rarely frequent the forums here recently.

I also have the following available for sharing:
Hemi PCM Pinout Spreadsheet
2004-2005 Ram Factory service manual with wiring diagrams
2006 LX Car Factory Service Manual with wiring diagrams
HP Tuners Base and modified calibration files for various Hemi vehicles

Wow, that's some excellent work! Glad to see someone stepping up and getting involved in de-mystifying these computers.
