Hemi's Scamp - Not a Hemi

She is a gorgeous dog. Huskies are great dogs. I love how they talk instead of bark.

I might consider selling the defroster system if the price is right... It works great.

She's actually pretty quiet, but she can whine when she's unhappy. (In her kennel from being bad) Lol.

she is still a puppy. its to be expected. if this is your 1st husky, i can tell you from having had many. get a furminator.

so actual car update. went to ecology today (wrecking yard) and got the parts i need to convert to HEI. Also snagged a plymouth hood badge off of a 73 satellite more door with a slant. Is anyone needs B parts that car is pretty much untouched.

So I really suck at updating this thing. But it has been stupid hot all summer long and I havent done much real WORK on the car.

I figured since there is no windshield in the car and the majority of the "inside the dash" components need attention that it was time I pulled the dash. So I did, Cleaned it up real good, sanded it down and primed it.

Now, Brainstorming. Not too fond of the stock gauge cluster. Aftermarket gauges of quality get pricy, then once you buy the peak dash (because its is bad ***) then the wallet is super empty. Anyway, I bought a gauge cluster out of a 70's van (from a member here) and threw them behind my empty dash. I think it looks pretty good. The trick, if I went this route, woud be the fabrication of a gauge cluster to accommodate the van gauges.

anyway. Pic... Let me know what you think.

need to take my foster dog out to meet a family this morning. After that Gunna get my hands dirty. so many things to do. where to start. I will let you know.

Now that the dash prep has sat for a weekish, Wiped her down and shot it black. I see so many people make the mistake of painting their dashed gloss. Looks janky when you do that. Satin finish makes it look like it should.

its only 3:30. Going back out to the garage before the wife spots me and makes me do something.

Wife is nagging... so stop working nd upate the thread (Where si the cloning machine for Leanna and Rani when you need it?/)I picked up a tranny cooler out of an 87 ram van that I will be using since I will be replacing my radiarot, as I like to call it, which is rotten to the core (ha ha) Anyway. placed it up for sizing and I think that it will work out nicely.

also have a pic of the van gauges sitting on top of the column. Not decided yet on whether or not to do it. I will run to the store and buy some poster paper and fab up a template dash... see how I feel about it then.

Some pics of the haunting and now intimidating wiring under the dash. Trying to separate the engine bay side from the dash wiring/wiring block without breaking a connector is proving to be challenging. Sitting in some penetrant right now.

I forgot how HUGE these heater core w/ ac really are

and finally the 70 grille seems to not like the AC... any suggestions?

Tinkering away at this van gauge idea. Normally I wouldnt be the kind of person to Franken-Car but since it is just a plain jane 74 scamp, why not? If this was a less common car I wouldn't.

So here are a few progressive photos of what I have been tinkering on. I am open to comments and feedback, good or bad. I can take it.

DAmn, those gauges are different but VERY cool, I like it......nice job :glasses7:

yeah, swapping the rear is a bit too involved for now.

i will probably eventually put a 68 valiant front on it. I dont know crap about body work so the rear is daunting. Eventually maybe.

swapping the rear panel is not that bad....i have actually done it before ......but i did it the opposite way bcoz i put a 75 dart panel on a 73 to gain the body mounted tail lights and lose the bumper mounted ones ........you will need a good drill bit and plan on being there for awhile.....long while......have to be careful not to drill through both pieces so that you have some metal to set a plug weld on.

its your car do what you want but big question for me is why change it?

IMO its a dang good looking car as- is (no collision damage)....i love the 73+ duster front end and i dont see anything wrong with the tail end.....just my .02

but if you do change out the rear panel....its not that bad just plan on sinking some time into it....... alot of time.

good job on the dash thats looking good

anyway i dont know how i missed this thread before but "suscribed"

yeah i would trade my swinger for an old valient in a miute!

Im diggin the dash layout,
What are you gonna use as a backing aluminum?

No, I am going to build a master and make a mold and will cast the molds in a 2 part liquid plastic. I plan to gusset the back for strength.

thanks... Yeah, I am not a fan of the 73+ front and back but am a huge fan of the bigger brakes and disc etc. So Franken car it is.

there are so many people on here it blends together a bit... but that isnt the case with the ladies on the forum with how few of you there are.

Post it up on the trade forum... You might get lucky

Update finally.

So the car was originally a vinyl top car. I hate vinyl. So did the previous owner apparently. They removed the top and spray bombed it black. Problem is was that they didnt prep at all before the spray bomb. You can see the results.

I also loosely fitted my 67 grille and hood.

Had little time this weekend, naggy sick wife.
