hey guys, I tried to install my holley 750 vac carb that I bought rebuilt today, but when I tried to start the car it would not start. It had gas in it becasue when i took it out and fliped it up side down the gas came out. so i have no idea what could be wrong with it.

When you flipped it upside down,Maybe your float bowl is stuck??Are you getting any fuel??Need more info....

First time working with this carb, umm i know when i pushed the lever that sits on top of the linkage at the front of the car, it squirted gas but other than that no gas was being put into the motor

maybe a pic of what the carb should look like when on the motor would help me out

one of my friends said that the carb needs to be hooked up to the power brakes? for vaccum? is this true or can I hook it up to the intake manifold? also were do i hook up the PCV valve on this carb???

Hope this helps

The brake booster should go to the intake. The carb should have a hose to the PCV valve and to the distr if you are using a vacuum advance. any un used ports need to be plugged.

so the port in the back of the carb is for the PCV???? hmm because on HOLLEY it says its for the vaccum or somethign like that... Maybe I have to adjsut the idle screws and the floats...hmmm

I have had some fun swapping carbs... Put one on, wouldn't fire up. Next day, put the original one back on, still wouldn't start. Come to find out, I took the coil wire off the distributor, layed it beside it, no chance of gas fire right?

My mistake was I assumed I had spark, ya just never know until you check it....

ya when the other carb was on it seemed as i had no spark, but when I put the regular carb on it started up

The port on the passenger rear is for power brakes just like the intake, full vacuum. the large port on the front under the bowl is for the pcv. Also the one on the pass. side front metering plate is for the dist. as it is a timed vacuum port.

plug all the ports for now if you want, and then start from there--you dont need them for the engine to run
