So it looks like I get to go this year. As usual I'm overwhelmed by the choices of places to stay.
I've done the strip a couple times, its cool, but this time I think we'll stay off the strip. Probably better prices and less traffic getting back to the hotel at the end of the day. Las Vegas blvd can be a nightmare during rush hour.

SO, I'm looking for any suggestions for good hotels off the strip. Was maybe thinking about Texas Station, anyone been there ? Other ideas welcome.

Thanks

Last time in Vegas we stayed at "New York-New York". Loved it.
It's on the Strip, directly across the street from MGM Grand.

Check out the link if you're looking for a great place place to stay that doesn't have a casino.

Book more than 3 weeks ahead of time and you can get a 1-bedroom condo with full kitchen, king bed w/giant whirlpool tub in the room, living room with fireplace, cable tv, etc., for $71.20 a night. It's on Flamingo west of the strip. We stay here just about everytime we go to Vegas, whether it's for MATS, NHRA, SEMA, or bowling.
We've got some fellow Inland Mopar club members staying with us so we got a 2-bedroom unit this year - average about $60 per night per couple.
Can't beat the rate for such a nice place. Check it out.

OK, well I guess I can forget about Texas Station. I was just on TripAdvisor site, and man there are a lot of really bad reviews of that place. Everything from "bad part of town" to "rude employees" to "the whole place smells like smoke" to too many "gangsta types hanging out in and around the hotel"

Ok, Maybe I'll give the Hampton Inn a shout and see if they have any rooms..lol

I travel for my job and stay at Hampton inns all the time so that would be a little boring, but at least its close to the Cannery and the drag strip.

Here's a view from the hotel window last year staying at the Hampton Inn linked above. It's actually about 4 blocks away, but zoomed in the camera LOL. Parking lot is full of Mopars all weekend long. The Cannery hosts a great live concert & Mopar show on Friday evening. The casino is filled with Mopar enthusiasts all weekend.

IMO.....It's the next best thing to staying @ the Cannery which is already sold out :protest:

Tuscany Suites is off the strip. As a N. Nevada Casino slot manager I went to gaming show's quite often and stayed in many of the big name hotels and the Tuscany is very nice and fair priced. Wherever you stay have fun.

Holy Crap !

I dont know why I didn't think of this sooner.

I was checking out the Hampton Inn N Speedway location online to see if it was available.

Well, it was available, $116 per night, but then I thought about my last post were I said I stay a hampton inns all the time when I travel for work.. So I started thinking, I wonder how many Hilton Honers points I have ?

Guess what, I just booked 3 nights at the Hampton Inn for FREE ! It was 25,000 points per night, and I had a balance of 78,000 points !

This is going to be a great trip, first a free flight on frontier (booked with miles) and then a free hotel stay booked with points !
