My windshield and rear window trim were removed before I bought my car.

73 Dart.

I don't see how it should 'clip' back into place. Should I just use silicon window sealer to gleu it back on or am I overlooking something?

Happy New Year

You should have trim tabs already attached to the windshield channel that your trim should snap into using the straight ledge on the underside of the trim.

Whatever you do NEVER ever put silicone on anything on your car, it will eat through your body of your car. Like the previous poster said there should be clips on your windshield. Is it possible for you to post a picture of the trim and the windshield i will be able to advise you so you do not destroy your trim. As a general rule trim can be set on the top of the clip and you gentley press it into the clip with your hand. NEVER use a hammer. On rare occasions i use a rubber mallet with a fiber stick lined up with the back of the trim and gently tap.

Hope this helps...

Silicone that uses acetic acid (strong vinegar smell) as a cure agent is not good to use on fine copper wire connections that will live in a high humidity environment but but it certainly won't eat through the body of your car. Anyone of the 100's of silicone sealers and gasket makers that are sold for automotive use are perfectly fine and won't attack anything.

I do agree don't glue the trim on. Use the correct clips, it will allow for water proper drainage so that you don't have a rust through issue in the future.

I don't have a picture right now, but will take one tommorrow. Sorry for the delayed response, I guess I didn't subscribe to the thread properly...

The tabs are there, some have broken off though I've noticed...what to do then?

Also the PO applied silicone windshield sealer in the past, it's full of it...

There should be about 6-8 clips along the bottom, 3 up each side and 6 or so across the top.

They screw into the vertical edges of the window channel.

Don't have a picture, here's an e-bay link to what they look like. Item #330296522273

My front windshield has 8 clips along the top, of which 1 broken. 2 along the left side and none along the bottom or drivers side.

The rear is even worse, 2 clips on the passenger side...

How hard is the windshield/rear winshield to pull without damaging the glass obviously. I am a long long way from any new glass to be screwing it up.

I guess it's a good opportunity to replace the seals and see what the condition of the frames is...

More importantly, is there any special install process for these windows? Especially the rear?
