Hi how hot should my engine be running. my 318 runs at 180 to 190 with ac off and 190 to 200 a/c on when temp outside is 80. I notice it runs hotter 190 on the hywy and around town 175 to 180. Are these numbers acceptable? Thanks!!

I agree.....not a biggie. It's not even boiling temp yet, and that temperature is measured as it's leaving the engine, up @ the water elbow, right? I don't like anything over 200 and definitely 215 (mostly 'cuz it increases the likelihood of pinging) I go nuts when it just keeps creeping up......220, 225....230.

Dual electric fans on a be cool alum radiator will anyways keep that engine cool!

With good antifreeze and a good radiator cap (and no leaks) it won't start boiling until its over 230.

To me, it sounds like you're running in a pretty good range. I don't think I'd spend any money to change it.

i'd be more concerned if it ran at less than 190. your smallblock needs to run at around 190 to 200. not a concern bud
