Just recently got my sons 71 Duster on the road and the last thing is the AC. I want to change the oil in the compressor and want to know how much to put in. I'll be using mineral oil, its a factory comp. running R12. Thanks!

Factory service manual will have the spec and show you the plug in the compressor to check oil level. It will also show how to make and mark a dipstick. I use a coat hanger and the spec is 2'' for a small block RV2 compressor. Also if the compressor A/C system has been sealed and not open when you remove the compressor to change the oil measure the amount removed. Just a few different ways to do it.

Believe it or not, LOL, I've still got a hoard of R12 and 22 "out there". This is the real stuff, not this propane mixed with beer and distilled pee water or whatever that crap is

Several guys I know did the same and started to buy up inventory before the price went up, and was no longer being sold.

Thanks, gonna drain it and see what comes out, just dont know if its low to start with. System was closed. I wish I had a service manual! Was hoping someone would have the ounce spec..

Do a search on here for a service manual down load.

Hey Doc,
I lived in Hollywood years ago before joining the Navy! Hope your A/C gets working! I remember cruise in's at Brick Oven Pizza on Hollywood Blvd! Man that brings back memories...............

Oh man! I hit the brick oven quite a few times with my white Duster, good times!

No 64 they dont, its not even the Brick Oven anymore, its now a different food place.
