Im needind advice asap ive got a 89dodge ram 4x4 halfton with a 727 auto trans ive took the old motor out and replaceing it n its all ready to be put in but now the old converter will not go back in to the trans wht can I do ive tired everything

Something isn't right then because they go back really easy.

Start it on nice and easy, support the center hub on the engine side with one hand to keep it going in straight while pushing it towards the trans and turn it, and a couple of clunks as it lines up the pump and splines and drops into place.

Just an after thought, make sure nothing got inside the converter.
(turn it upside down)

Ok ill give it shot tomorrow n ive had the converter upside n nothing came off and the trans pump spins but it was in park so idk wat to do ive never done this before

Doesn't matter if it's in gear, or what gear at all.
Should just drop in while turning it, keeping it aligned with the shaft and a couple of pounds of pressure.

From what I know about installing torque converters . Is your suposed have the trans in neutral and then slide the converter on and keep on spinning the converter and you should hear THREE clunks when you hear last clunk it's fully seated .

does not matter what gear the trans is in........

you must make sure the hub on the converter engages the pump correctly or the pump will not pump..and your wheels will not turn...and the transmission will coming out again...

the converter should drop twice..and once fulling engaged...if you turn the converter back n forth...you should hear the hub clanging against the pump tangs....like clack..clack..

Basically if you don't have clearance between the converter and the flexplate when you go to put the trans in, the converter is not installed all the way.
The converter should have to be slid forward to bolt up after the trans is up to the motor.
This is the easy way to tell for people that are new to it.

.............The easiest way bar none is to use a thin screw driver and turn the pump lugs to 6 and 12 o'clock, then slide in the converter corrospondingly............if the lugs are anywhere else they will be off center as the pump gear can slide side to side................kim........

it went in thanks for the help and now I'm needing the voccum line diagram any advice?
