I just gotta share this.

My neck has been hurting me for a while now ever since I got rear ended while driving my Wifes Van 3 years ago.
When I tilt my head back it hurts a bit and sometimes worse than others like maybe a bone spur or something or a herniated disc.

I'm not the sueing type so I never pursued any type of damages, but to make a long story short.

I was under a car today on the ground loosening up a really tight oil drain plug.

I decided to put both hands to the wrench with my head cocked to the side and gave it all the muscle I had.
Finally the tension gave way like right now as I cracked the bolt loose but all of the sudden I had an excruciating lightning bolt of pain in the right side of my neck and I laid on the ground thinking for sure I just broke my freaking neck.
It hurt for about 15-20 seconds, then the pain subsided.

I kept my head on the ground since I did not want to try to lift it without trying out my side to side motion first.
Side to side was fine so I lifted my head slowly and got up off the ground.

I went through all the motions and my neck actually felt better than it did for a few years now.

No pain at all when I tilt my head all the way back and apply force.

The only explanation I can think of it that I may have had a vertebrae out of position and I just finally popped it back into place.

Does this make sense?

Neck and back issues can be so compicated. It could have been a pinched nerve, muscle spasm, or who knows what else. Glad it subsided.

I am not the suing type either and have a story about that. Back in 1988 I was sitting at a light when a woman who was putting on her makeup slammed me from behind. Luckily I kept it under control enough to get through the intersection OK but my car was totalled. After she hit me she drifted into the side of a truck that was sitting at the intersection too. I could have sued for some pretty good money but I just said give me a fair value for the car and cover any actual medical expenses and I am Ok with that. One week after I settled on that I got served with papers because the brainless imbecile that hit me was trying to sue me and the other guy she drifted into! At the deposition I very calmly and professionally handed her and her attorney their asses for being completely braindead in attempting this. My attorney (a family friend who went for free) was sitting there laughing. Of course their ridiculous suits went nowhere but man, this idiot hit me and I didn't sue her when I could have but she tries to sue me.

one of the upper vertebrae may have been out of whack. Did you ever go see someone to have it adjusted ? If not you probably just knocked it back in place off the nerve. However ! if that is the case there is a real good chance that it will easily go back out again. It is trained into the wrong positon. If it goes back you may want to look into having it adjusted and your back realigned to match. Cant run a Hemi on a bent frame ya know.

Do not play around with this, get it checked out. Start with an MRI. Had the same problem and nursed it along until I got out of bed one morning and fell flat on my face because the right side of my body didn't work anymore. Had to have a disc removed at C5-C6 because it was herniated and had part of my spinal column pinched off. That was 10 years ago and I still have a plate and 4 screws in my neck and if I try to pick up more than 20 pounds with my right arm the arm goes numb and I drop it.

Yeah I know, I was thinking the same thing.

I have been to a few quacko-practors and none of them did a darn thing for me and all of them just wanted me to sign up for a forever contract to see them regularly...sorry, I'm not into that racket.
You can tell those dudes are just in it for the money.

Makes total sense to me, I had lower back problems and was just dealing with the pain until it got so bad that it was uncomfortable to do anything but lay down, when I would sneeze I thought that I was going to die it was so painful. A good friend of mine comvinced me into seeing his chiropractor and after about five visits I was able to start functioning again. Before I went myself I always thought of chiropractors as quacks or witch doctors, I believe in them now. I try and go about once a month or every other month just to stay tuned up.

You might want to ask around in your area if anyone would recomend one because there probably are good and bad ones like anything else. My guy didn't take my insurance but he has a cash price of $40 and I think that it is well worth it.

cudaspaz,

I'm going thru this right now. Got rear ended the beginning of this month and car was totalled. My neck is very screwed up. It was feeling better and I was just cleaning the inside windshield on my truck yesterday when "crack"......ouch. Out of joint again for the 3rd time in less than a month since the crash.

I don't use a chiropractor, but go to a DO, Doctor of Osteopathy. They are heavily trained in the musko-skeletal system. They are also trained in "adjustments" similar to a chiropractor. Your insurance will cover the expenses since they are a Doctor. Ask around and see if you can get a referral from a friend or family member.

Your neck is nothing to fool around with. I agree with other members who have suggested to have it looked at.

After all.....this thing supports our big heads.....LOL

Good Luck

He's right!!!! 100% !!!!!
I got Xrays and an MRI done on my neck and it turns out I have a buldged and torn disk along with a fractured vertebre. Also I had absoloutly ZERO curvature in my neck. It was just bouncing up and down and smushing everything. So I had a cracked frame, bad shocks, flat springs and 15psi of air in my tires. My chiropractor is a car guy and explained it to me so I could understand lol.
I go to the chiropractor once every 2 weeks now and I feel a whole lot better and Im starting to get some curve back in my neck now.

Mine came from years of BMX dirt jumping and being a dumbass by picking up and moving things like motors, rearends and transmissions by my self from the time I was 13. Now Im not supposed to lift anything over 35lbs.
