I counted my small block stash today.

Hi John. I'm a blockaholic too! I'm 65, started young, and most of my 340's have been fermenting since the late 70's - early 80's.
Four 318's
Five 340's
Two 5.9 Magnums
Six 383's
Two 400's
Two 440's
That's just the stash, not counting the ones in and running! :realcrazy:
Obviously, I'm not trying hard enough. Two standard 340's and a '76 360.

Hi! I’m Rob & I’m a blockaholic with only 10.
Several intakes for each, 6 sets of heads on the ready, 6 transmissions, 3 manual, 3 automatic and 4 cars, 2 trucks, parts in my closet, spare bedroom, under the guest bed, spare body parts on the guest bed…..

I need help, I’m out of room and my garage isn’t ready to build yet.

I was wondering, is it a bad idea to get another Duster or should I wait a little bit? I only have 2 Dusters now. I don’t see a problem myself, but started to wonder. You know…. That I might be pushing it or getting too far ahead of myself….

AM I OK????

Think of a new duster as a place to store an engine :)

well lest see I have a spare 340 for the swinger and an extra 5.0 for my fox body so yeah I thougt I heard somewhere a true hot rodder always has a spare engine I dunno ... :)

I have a standard bore 360, bare block, a complete carb to pan 350 Rocket Olds, 1976 vintage with the shittiest heads ever offered by Oldsmobile, and a complete 5.0 Ford that I pulled out of my daily driver last year due to low oil pressure, haven't gotten to opening it up yet.
I also have a spare BOP TH350 trans and a spare small block 727, plus a few carbs, distributors, etc. Small time compared with most of you.

I inherited:
65 426 wedge, original , complete
68 273 short block
71 400 BB block
69 318 complete w accessories
1 E58 360 cop motor, complete short block
1 69 318 block
1 360 block
1 complete 66 318 poly w accessories

I'm losing storage some will be for sale soon

Forgot to mention, I'm a carbaholic also

I sold off all of my 440’s except for one and I will probably scrap it and sell the caps. Some junkyard idiot pulled the engine with a hylift and tore a hole in the block were the motor mount used to be. Dog gone early HP block too.

Wow! A friend gave me the 440 because it has the front motor mount bosses to go in my 68 383 Barracuda. It was a Marine block run on a closed coolant system. Came with a shot peened forged crank and one forged piston, no where close to the other 7 for compression. Not sure I'll get it done, but it is a nice piece. Another friend knows a guy that builds them into 540 cubes and puts out 740 hp on pump gas, normally aspirated, but that just sounds crazy to me. I'm finishing the original 383 to go back in this year hopefully.

I'm down to four, two 340's, an early 360 and an R1 block that's in my Dart. A couple years ago I gave my nephew a 340 block after he destroyed the one in his Demon drag car. At one time I had a bunch of 383 stuff and a couple 318's, scrap got high so I loaded them all up and sold them. I still have a few sets of big block heads, don't have any idea why I kept them.

It would be great if all the owners of 340s they've collected over the years would post the vin numbers of them. Even if they have no desire to sell them, guys looking for their long lost engines would be thrilled to know where they ended up.

So they can bother the heck out of them trying to buy them. Lol

2 400 blocks and 1 451 short block
1 383 block and 1 complete engine.
1 413

That’s exactly how I feel and it’s even more annoying when I get asked what my vin is on any 340 block I have. I say, “Don’t worry about it, it’s not the one your looking for.”

Then the stupid ***’s say, “How do you know?”

It’s amazing they can’t figure it out.

What is the vin#, I might know someone that needs that block. How much ya want ? lol

Can never have too many.
I'm low on motors..atm with only '70 340, '88 roller 360, '84 roller 318 , '73 318, '61 aluminum 225, 2 iron 60s 225s, '73 or 4 400, '64 426 motors.

Im sitting on 6 340's, 4 440's, a 383 and one slant six. Couldn't bring myself to throw away the slant, it just ran perfect.
Ok, technically I have a couple 318's too but one is in a car and the other is in a parts car im looking to get rid of.
....and a core 5.7 hemi

I know where 2 of mine came from and those Dusters are long gone. Not sure of the third, it came out of a 67 Barracuda. And like you, no they're not for sale...
