:angry7:Let's see if I can explain this nicely :happy10:
My computer has been hacked and know my brother Ken is going to come over and see what's going on :read2:
I can not log in because of viruses over 10 :bootysha: so I am on my wife's computer 8)
I looked in my viewed friends list and there is to members there that has been there with 0 post's NADDA not even one post :glasses9:
But they seemed to want to seek me out and did not say hello here or in my people that looked in my profile
There names are Dennis Dixon and Wedge.
Yall know I visit ebay 8) trying to find Small Block a switch for his Vert Dart and Cregs list and my home town tv new web site and have never had this happen :angry7:
Creed does get on my computer know and again so I will ask him where he may have went to get all these viruses at.
Yall know I am no computer guru 8) It just seems weird that a new member would go through the time to look me up and not even post in the welcome wagon or anywhere :sad9:
I guess this is a rant, But I am not pointing fingers just wondering :read2:
Brother said he will be over this morning and see what is up, so I can figure this out 8) Why would folks join and not even post ????

That's not good memike. Hopefully he can get it worked out. Have you contacted any of the mods on this?
Thanks for the heads up.

go to cnet.com
download "malwarebytes" and run it.

not sure why people seeking you out that have never posted though.. thats strange.

Ken is here know and said who ever it was diabled my fire wall and Macafy :read2: he is on it know :read2:

Mike,

Hope I'm not wrong, but I don't think someone can plant a virus in your computer by visiting your profile.

As to the Looky Lou's, well that's the price of notoriety. When I joined up last year, your posts were prominent. Your success on this board probably makes you a little more vulnerable. Look at it as gaining your very own personal stalkers! Paparazzi are sure to follow.

Ken said it would be hard but can be dun depending on what I have running on my computer at the time :glasses9:

A large percentage of virures come in forwarded emails.
If there is a email with funny picks or whatever being sent from desk to desk inside the Bosch plant my brother will send it to me. I dont hesitate to open it because I know it has been screened.
On the flip side... If some net friend sends my neighbor something and she forwards it to me, I wont open it. I wouldn't open a forwarded email for you or anyone else. No hard feelings I hope. Some virus emails will automaticly forward themselves to eveyone in your contact list without your knowing.
I do get paid about twice per year to flush viruses off my neighbors pc. She wont learn her lesson. She could pay less to keep a virus protection active and updated.
Spyware comes from websites mostly. So if I get a email that says "hey , check this out" www.inyourwindow.com or whatever... not gonna happen. I've even lied and said "yeah that was pretty wild" if asked.
I cant say I've never picked up a bug. I can count them on one hand though.

That sucks Mike! I hope Ken can get you patched up and yopu are back up and running soon.

It certainly seems suspitious that all your defence systems were shut down..

Heres some computer mojo for ya:cheers::cheers::cheers:.

Sorry to hear you got bit again. At least they didn't wipe out your pictures this time. I have only had a couple of viruses so I guess I've been lucky, but then, I never walk away from my computer without signing out and shutting down all the browsers that are open.

1st thing..... dump the MacAfee!
The best Anti Virus Program out here is AVG by Grissoft.
And AVG Free Edition is.. well... FREE!
Since I started using it 7 years ago - 0 Viruses have gotten past it.

I have been a Computer Tech for 16 years now.

Later,
Bruce B.

PS: Grumpuscreature: Even with all browsers closed if you are on an always on connection you are open to hackers and web roaming viruses. There are 2 protections: 1: Turn OFF your computer when not in use. 2: Keep a GOOD Anti-Virus program and UPDATE it DAILY.

AND read Claudius's better yet post below. I forget about my Wireless Router.

I will start doing that David  I just walk away, Not no more!! Thank you Grumpus

Ken said a zip file is a bad one to open and watching some video's on other sites
"not U-Tube" They keep U-Tube clean.

There are software firewalls and hardware firewalls. McAfee, Norton, and the Windows operating systems all provide software firewalls. A simple way to add a good layer of protection is to install a router because this serves as a hardware firewall. If you have a single PC in the house, your PC is hooked directly to the modem (cable, ISDN, dial-up, etc.).

A router connects between the modem and the PC. The router then permits other PCs and network printers to be connected with a regular ethernet cable. Wireless routers also have an antenna so that you can remotely locate PCs elsewhere without the need for cabling.

Personally, I would recommend a wired router for the novice user. They are a no-brainer to install and you do not have to worry about people trying to hack into your network if you had a wireless router. They are also not expensive and you only would need a 4-port unit. (For example, I use the D-Link EBR-2310 model but you can find any number of makes & models.)

I have never been completely bug-free but I have not had any problems since adding the router when both a second PC and a network printer were added.

Check out this site for more explanation:

http://thehardwarefirewall.com/personal-hardware-firewall.html

All of the cautions that others have posted are good advice worth heeding. I just wanted to suggest another layer of protection that requires no maintenance. (One might look at a wired router as a condom for your PC. It serves as excellent protection but is not perfect.)

I am not a PC expert but I would be happy to help anyone with PC questions that they might have. If I can offer good advice, I will. If not, I will try to suggest where to get help.

And 1 thing neither Claudius or I mentioned:
ALWAYS have a RJ-45/Network Cable Surge Supressor installed on Hard Wired connections!!

NEVER plug anything into your computer that is not surge protected!

I just talked to Creed and he said that some one sent him an E-mail that said
HA! Ha!! I seen you on this video!! and he clicked on it and it said to down loud something to watch it , But he did not click on it to down load to watch it!!! and then all kinds of $hit hit my computer!!! Just a heads up for everyone. My computer is still getting repaired so yall be careful out there and I hope this thread prevent's any members here to get this.
I took pictures of my screen and will post them after my computer is fixed
Look's like a nice day to be outside so yall have a great day

Normally, downloading a file to view is not a problem, however downloading (and installing) a program to view a file is a problem. It's like opening the door and welcoming the bad guys in.

enough of the outside #-o, I am waiting on Zman and brother Ken to get back home from there day at work to complete what he has running on my computer, It looks like 21 objects was infected :spam1:
After a little mowing the yard and a grilled bacon and cheese samich it's time for a RC :drinkers: and hope for the best :happy10:
maybe a game of pool will take it off my mind

I found an old picture on the wife's computer back when I was building 8) Or watching my home on the hill getting built :drinkers:

Yep DRENO :happy10: I went to the local gas station and spent 75 cent's in the men's room :D lmao:hello2: I could not help my self :toothy10:

Thank you bud :happy10: I sure feel better now

I use Kaspersky security. Designed by the Russians from the old KGB. All the computer mags give it rave revues.I dont have to pass on a file because i,m scared of it. It has a sandbox where I can open files to search for viruses and redirects or any crap someone can add to the email or file. It can scrub it or if I dont like it it will delete it and all traces from my computer. Pretty cool. Yawl should try it. Only downfall is it is not free and I believe over 75 dollars. I for one dont trust any free app as they are watching your keystrokes or habits to make a dollar somewhere. If you buy your security and they compromise your info you have a breach of contract. DD
