You will probably have to loosen it from the top. If it's the one on the passenger side, you may or may not be able to get it out past the oil filter. If you can't, just loosen it up as far as you can and then slide the transmission back a little and loosen it some more until it turns loose from the transmission. That bolt and the one on the drivers side under the starter are the first 2 that I take out after I get the torque converter to flex plate bolts out. You will find that the flex plate will also bolt to the torque converter one way. It's a good idea to remove the flex plate from the motor after you get the old trans out. Look at which way it mounts to the block before you take it out, and maybe take a pic with your phone! Now, lay it on the new torque converter like it will be when its all bolted back together. You may get it right the very first time when lining up the 4 flex plate to torque converter bolts, or you may have to move it a few times to get all 4 bolts to line up with the holes in the flex plate. When it lines up, take some spray paint that is a different color than the converter and flex plate, and spray paint one ear of the flex plate and also the converter at the same place. That will save you some cussing later! Put the flex plate back on the crank and torque the bolts to 55 lbs/foot and you're ready! I know this wasn't part of your original question, but didn't want you to learn the hard way if you didn't know. Good luck to you, and welcome to FABO.
